Hello. I am 71, started my Starch Solution journey 2 years ago (wish I had known sooner....) and dropped 25 pounds effortlessly. I have more energy, feel great in my body and mind am so grateful to Dr McDougall and his message to all. IT'S THE FOOD, for humans, for the animals we need to save, and for the planet. thank you.

I am 68 years old and post-menopausal but I CAN lose weight on McDougall's program. I may lose "only" 1 1/2 lbs. a week, but I have been losing it regularly (and that is without being strict on his program -- that is, I still eat avocados and seeds and nuts, though fairly moderately). Up until this diet however I DID feel I could NEVER lose weight again -- and I need to so badly (120 lbs. or more). Thank you, Dr. McDougall...!

@@wolin289 Good for you! I got waylaid on eating right over the holidays last year (though I thought I was being good enough) and have gained back a wee bit, but have sustained some weight loss and getting back on the saddle. Currently a couple favorite things I eat: a meal of potatoes, broccoli and refried beans. I'm amazed how much that satisfies me. For breakfast I love to have one ripe banana with maybe 1/2 cup organic frozen blueberries, just smashed together -- so satisfying, simple and easy. I'm going to be trying to get all my potatoes organic now. It's a sad thing what is being done to so much of the produce! Thanks for your comments. They are encouraging.

Post menopausal, I am only losing one pound a week ...only a Tablespoon of flaxseed, no nuts or avocado. Not cheating at all. But I am okay with it. Exactly a pound a week after the initial 12 lb. drop.

Encore! One thing I do want to add, is that "normal" baby size is not a run of the mill 5-7 lbs. All 4 of my babies were anywhere from 8lbs to almost 10lbs - all natural, no c-sections. My weight gain was under 30 lbs total for each, which I lost immediately. I myself was over 9 lbs in the early 70's. There is some genetics at play there for sure..

Encore! One small issue...as a woman who had c-sections, I don't think they can all be blamed on a bad diet. I know the situations for mine really couldn't be...so maybe a little grace there. I will say thought that eating this way is a huge health benefit and I wish more people weren't so a afraid of what we were meant to eat. I mean..the GARDEN of Eden,,,not the ranch!! God gave us so much bountiful natural beautiful food!! Its glorious. Thank you for the interview.

yes, traditionally most diets have been starch BASED, but what MacDougall always fails to mention is that meat has always played a role too and did oil. I mean the Bible clearly states that Jesus' first miracle was that of the fishes and the loaves of bread. So, meat was eaten commonly with the starch also, in lentil soups and stews whatever clean meat they could get was often added into it. Meat has been eaten in almost every culture and by the Lord Jesus himself, so I guess Dr. Macdougal is smarter than the Lord Jesus and saying that the Lord fed his disciples food poison. I guess Jesus didn't live a perfect life after all

@@charityfields3075 ... this man was not pointing fingers... nor was he role playing God or undermining His teachings either.... Also... Just to clarify... the miracle of the wine at the wedding of Cana was the first miracle of the bible... But that's neither here nor there and has nothing to do with the topic at hand. Listening to the speaker give any credit at all to the Creator in the vegan world... Now THAT was impressive!... So...how about a little grace on his wording. Just a thought for you to ponder... Blessings 🙂🙃🙂
@tisgrlgotdabluz5071
2 жыл бұрын
@Claire Youmans the kind doctor has given credit to the Creator which is not the norm amongst vegan world typically... this is a good thing... You know... what someone pulls out of a conversation says alot about a person... If you're experiencing a negative reaction from something said here ... maybe ask yourself "why does this bother me?"... and if you're looking for grace... first you may consider giving some to yourself and then possibly to Dr. Mc Dougall as well... perhaps consider turning your focus toward the good that is coming out of what the doctor is teaching... people are getting well! That is a praiseworthy thing... which is one of the many good things the Bible teaches we should put our our focus/attention on ("think on THESE things" ... remember?)... wish you the best... Blessings! 🙂🙃🙂

Encore! I owe this man a lot. My only regret is not following his advice fifteen years earlier after reading one of his books back in the 90s. A woman may be eating for two while pregnant, but one of those two only weighs ounces to a few pounds during gestation--not 100-150 pounds. It's not how long you live but how well you live long. Traditional peasant diets are delicious. I used breastfeeding to lose weight after my five pregnancies. It worked pretty well. I didn't get chubby until after my youngest was potty trained.

@@vchafab Sure I actually use a combination of cashews and hemp seeds. I use 2/3 cup raw cashews and 1/3 cup hemp seeds and put them in a high speed blender (you can also soak the cashews in water for awhile if you don't have a high speed blender) with 1 cup water (sometimes I add a bit more to thin it out) and 1 tsp. each garlic and onion powders, I tsp. lemon juice, 1 tsp. apple cider vinegar, and 1 Tbsp. nutritional yeast. I have kinda combined all of the other cashew cream recipes I have tried to find the combo I like. The yeast gives it a bit of a cheesy sauce flavor, so you can always leave that out if you don't like it. I use it as a salad dressing thinned out and also as a topping for bowls. Right now I really like using it drizzled on top of cooked spaghetti squash. I hope you like it!

The pioneers still ate meat and dairy. Mostly wild game, pigs, which they let forage on the land, wild caught fish and most had a cow for milk, butter and cream and of course chickens for meat and eggs. They also didn't eat much sugar because they simply couldn't afford it. They grew gardens and stored pumpkins, squash, potatoes, carrots, dried beans etc. to survive the winters too. They picked berries, wild apples and other various fruits that were seasonal. It was probably mostly a plant based diet but it was certainly not a vegan diet. My point being that I don't think meat is the culprit if its wild, grass fed, free range, etc. Its the crappy seed oils, high fructose syrup and white refined things along with a plethora of chemicals in the boxed goods on the shelves that we modern people eat that make people so sick. I agree with Dr. McDougal that we need all of the veggies but I have problems every time I cut the animal protein out. My hair falls out, quits growing, blood sugar goes up and my eczema flairs. I do best when I eat salmon, lean meats and eat small amounts of healthy fats. I've tried vegan diets for years and crashed and burned. This is just my honest opinion and what works for me. There's a lot of truth here, but I believe you have to work with your own body and what feels good and brings good health to you. For those of you who do the Starch Solution and have found success I am truly happy for you!!

I saw a KZitemr who was whole food planned based, oil free and he had high cholesterol and he was making a interview about it with one of the famous doctor. The conclusion was, anybody who is whole food plant based oil free, not overweight, not smoking could have high cholesterol but won’t get a heart attack. Our body produces cholesterol and could be higher when we stressed or not sleeping well, that’s what I understood.
