@lollig7382

you need to know (but I am sure you all already know) that initially Dr. Klimke was told not to bother bringing Ahlerich along, furthering him, training him, as he was quite a modest looking horse in the beginning. So I am told anyway. I love the lightness of Dr. Klimke's touch, the fact that he trained so many horses, all of them so very different, and all of them treated with the same sort of tact and respect. I presume you all know that Ingrid Klimke is his daughter, she is now a world class event rider, but she also initially started as a dressage rider, she just happened to like eventing more. But she was trained by her father, what a privilege that must have been!!
@lisanadinebaker5179

Jutta - even in this film Ahlerich is not the most striking horse in physical appearance. But what jumps out many times is how much focus and effort he is putting into every movement. At one extended trot you can really see this - he was putting everything he had into each front leg stretch, working very hard to perform to the aids. A horse does this because they like what they are doing and they want to please. He has obviously been trained with kindness. I think this willingness is what Dr. Klimke saw and others did not. Another example of Dr. K's horsemanship.

wonderful to see a horse in self carriage , even the tempis , all the transitions and so on. why is it so difficult to ride a horse in self carriage ?
