I am going to take that fact about the difference between stress and anxiety with me. Such a useful distinction. It’s wild though, how anxiety (based on fears that aren’t “real”) is SO real itself, and so debilitating. I was glad to hear you use the airplane example as a way of explaining that out-of-control feeling. I didn’t get on a plane for YEARS due to a scary experience on one, and this year I decided to take a trip to the other side of the country, necessitating air travel. Later, when my therapist asked how I was able to do it, I said that I basically had to come to terms with the idea that I could die, because it felt THAT life or death to me. I didn’t care about any of those statistics that people always want to throw at you about how much safer air travel is than traveling by car, blah, blah, blah. When you have true fear and anxiety about flying, those statistics might as well be in the garbage can for all the good they do. (As in, they really cannot touch that part of you that is afraid. Statistics mean nothing if YOURS is the plane that crashes). What really helped was, on my first flight, I sat next to a woman who could see that I was struggling (I was crying as the plane was taking off). We chatted the whole trip (it was just an hour flight for the first one, so hopefully I didn’t bother her too much). She showed me pictures of her dogs and we talked about lots of things. It REALLY helped keep me distracted and present to just that very moment, in the conversation. So if you are ever on a flight with an anxious flyer, and you have it in you to spare some time for a conversation, you might just be “saving” that person from a possible panic attack. I know I’m not the only one who struggles with the idea of air travel, but sometimes it feels like I’m the only one who is THAT afraid of it (and other things). And it’s so true what they said on this episode: it’s about feeling out of control. Hope you all have happy holidays! Take care Lemon Drops! 🍋🫶🏻

Great episode, but idk if u guys have middle names but maybe ur friends, and other confused parties should just call u guys by ur middle names instead of the whole “Taylor Lautner X2” confusion. If Girl Tay doesn’t have a middle name then I’d just start calling her “Dome” 😂😂. When I was in HS I was in JROTC (army reserve class) so I got pretty used to ppl only calling me by my last name 😂.
