I would have ran that mate, little tighter = faster engage, that wouldn't have bound.

As a retired trans guy, that is the proper way to air check. Also I used an adjustable air valve, on the end of the blow gun. Because shop air pressure was always 100+ psi

Thanks Michael learning something new every day. Yes I turned down to 40 psi.

Ok so your not really a transmission guy, I did notice when you air checked the direct drum it has a lot of leakage, mine does that too not sure thats normal.

Not anymore, went into medicine. But yes, don't need much air to check. Can blow through a bit. This is the first time I used a dial indicator. Previously used feeler gauges.

I just looked it up and it is called, Precision Transmission and he is a older gentleman about our age give or take a couple of years. He works with his son I believe that his name is Trent, and I believe that you and him would be quite helpful to each other and maybe doing something with him and I believe that you might have a few things in common. Except he is GM and everything and just nota single manufacturer specifically for one brand! Your going to have to visit with them and see how much you are able to get involved with and be able to help each other. He has tons of power tricks and ways to move or tweak this and that for better reliability and better quality of shifting. Great evening and enjoy your day tomorrow and tell everyone enjoy the rest

Thanks Tim , interesting, another way too check clearance. I'm finding a lot of parts are " backordered". I always, did manual (toploader), sent the automatics to Dave Swimm and his wife. I know you remember them!

Hey john, good to hear from you. I know Dave and Lynn well from back in the day. that is the reason, I wanted to have a wheel standing car. His GTO. he had that pic in his office in Plaineville, and I said. I want my Cougar to do that. He said you better make some Horsepower with that Cougar.

There's a Father and son business in Texas and he is the bomb he is a walking encyclopedia of factory repair manuals for all these transmission repairs and it is amazing, plus he and his family has a race car that they run. I believe that it is Precision Transmission, i have been subscribed to him for ages and I believe that he has videos for every power level and style of transmission that has moved a vehicle under its own power period.

Thanks Bill, me either. I did find out it will be pretty dam difficult to get trans up into place with header on, trialed fit, and just too much weight, and pan too wide. Even if i use a different pan, safer to pull right header off....,Bummer
