Finally, the full pilot. This is the best Dragnet movie. Period. A new Dragnet movie based on the early radio shows is due. It would be set in 1949, including flashbacks of Friday as a cadet in 1939. It would be the Black Dalila or a remake of one of the old episodes. This one was based on the Harvey Glatman The "lonely hearts" killer in the late 1950s.

The first interview is Bobby Troup. Often in Webb productions. Webb was married to Julie London, a 40s movie actress, and they divorced in 1954 just before she began her recording career in 55. She and Troup toured and performed together and were married in 1959. She continued her jazz career till 1969. Webb kept them both working to provide good income for them, his children and theirs. He cast both as leads in his paramedics show Emergency in the 70s. Not a perfect man, but in that a class act.

On the top of this page it shows 1966. I found another "pilot" at our library. It was very different than this episode. The camera angles and dialog was very different. Some of the shots were of the actors just standing around. No talking or moving. It was in the very early stages of television. It looked as if the former radio actors and crew were so use to radio shows that they weren't sure how to film television. Weather it be radio or television I still really like this program.

Wonderful Pilot; so pleased to be treated to the full beginning. Actually, the best one of all; excellent portrayals, by everyone. Makes one feel it’s actually happening , in reality! Love Joe & Bill characters so much, and enjoyed watching the show, back then. Now, at 72 and counting, it such a treat to watch the videos , and remember some of the good things , from the past. I now watch a couple of the well put together True Crime channels, now on YT, and follow interrogations and live or pre-recorded Court proceedings and Trials. The psychology of why people do the things they do, compels me to watch and listen. I worked in a totally different field , of healing and wellness, but still The psych part of that crosses over to a point. It’s all about people, in general, however one sees it, I suppose. I’ve been blessed of the Lord, with a huge portion of curiosity, and I must put it to use, all Glory to Him. Sending His Love and Grace to whoever reads this. His Grace is sufficient, for our lives, and His Mercy everlasting, and new every morning! 🙏💜✌️

Thanks for uploading these episodes of the 1967 Dragnet TV series. This is the very first time that I've seen the débút episode from the very beginning. I always get a nostalgic kick listening to Joe Friday, when he's in the interrogation room, giving some 'perp', "The Speech". When Harry Morgan, was on the MASH TV series, there were times I 'still' thought I was looking at LAPD Detective Bill Gannon. When Mr. Morgan passed away, most people remembered him for his time as Col. Sherman T. Potter. But me, I remembered him as Joe Friday's partner, Bill Gannon. As I watched that Dan Aykroyd, Tom Hanks Dragnet Movie, it was great to see Harry Morgan in that movie. And that he stayed on the job, long enough to make Captain! This is how it should be, yet I cannot recall an instance of another character of a non-American speaking their own language, as they would in real life. It is the one glaring mistake made almost universally. It is so easy to do it right, and I've never understood why nearly everybody has a character speaking a language they might not even know in real life. These people even presented the French dialog without subtitles, greatly heightening the realism. I say bravo! And thank you so very much
