@blackborealis

I think it's because it's instantly identifiable and energetic with a high tempo, and I think 3/4 signature which makes it feel like the song has this foundation of moving forward without a musical break. And the flute comes in with a hopeful and bittersweet sounding melody. I think the song is emblematic of Link's struggles with Ganon that are won then lost again in a never-ending epochs-long cycle since the creation of Hyrule. I think it's my favourite LoZ song, maybe tied with Song of Storms.

When I heard this in TOTK when entering the village I legit started crying. This game was my childhood. Ever since my dad walked home one day with a gamecube with smash bros melee and wind waker. I was 6 or 7 and played this allll day!!!! Now i’m 27 and 20 years later the nostalgia hits hard AF!
@livwilliams7786

I broke down crying. I never actually played Wind Waker, but as a kid I’d stay at my aunts house and spend the night. My cousin Jake who is only a month older than me, when we were kids, we were like twins. Inseparable. well me and him would stay up allllllllll night playing games like sonic and Zelda and melee and what not on GameCube, watching Naruto and other anime on Toonami. I was awful at Zelda and was just happy to watch him play Wind Waker. I have such fond memories of him and I at 8 years old, up til 3am, sneaking bowls of ice cream and hot pockets and soda, figuring out together how to get through Wind Waker. We named Link “oop,” we meant to name him “poop” but forgot the “p.” Jake and I aren’t as close anymore. Not anything personal, just, life, yanno? We’re both 26 now. Skyward Sword was my first Zelda game I ever owned and played myself. He was so excited for me to get my first Zelda game, he came over and helped me play through it. We were 13 then I believe. BOTW was my second. TOTK my third. When I got to this boss fight, I had to pause the game and just broke down crying. I forgot about this song entirely. Those memories with my cousin are some of the most fond memories in my life. He was my best friend. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without our shared childhood. Life has changed so much since then, and it’s wild how a simple little tune in a song could make an entire chapter of my life, one that it seemed like I had forgotten, come flooding back so hard it brought me to tears. TOTK is one of the most beautiful games I’ve ever played.

When the king of red lions tells you to set sail to the island that’s when the magic happens. The sailing music for the first time, seagulls flaying around the boat, and very beautiful scenery while dragon roost island gets closer and closer. When you sail up to the island and hear that music for the first time with a giant red dragon at the top of the mountain. A very magical moment in gaming for me.

@@juliocastillo4685 pan flute is not originally from peru, it also uses regular flute, guitar (with traditional peninsula cords) which I highly doubt that are originally from peru, oh and you forgot the castanets, which are not peruvian of course, so yes, it's Spanish music

The best Zelda song imo Probably a mix between nostalgia from swimmingbird’s let’s play of this game and a mix of how good it is that makes me love it

since everyone's sharing their personal stories with this game i will too. windwaker was my first legend of zelda game and it helped me get over my social anxiety. it used to be so bad that i couldnt even fight enemies in video games because i was too afraid, but going into that forest and fighting those moblins for the first time on outset island was like a first step in being more confident in myself. i played the hd version that came out 2013

Luna Beekhuizen i find this comment appropriate simply because the How To Train Your Dragon films have always given me Wind Waker vibes (perhaps part of the reason why I like them so much? Lol), and the main character’s name is Hiccup. Totally random, no relation to your comment, but still. 😅

This has to be (at least for me) the greatest single piece of a gaming soundtrack ever made. I feel like home and as an outside spacer at the same time. I feel free and caged by this soundtrack at the same time. I feel like going outside an adventure and stepping through my housedoor at the same time. I played through this game x times - I still at least stop by this island x times during m playthrough. I can listen do this all day & night. It catches me and lifts me up. It helps me through the challenges life is throwing at me. It helps me making decisions. I work in the hospital in germany as an cardiac anesthetist and - thankfully - the team is pretty young. We listen to music during operations to stay focused. Each member has a song and we shuffle the music to get a random order. …this is my jam while operating
