You are wonder. After 40+ years of crochet...I never knew you could go under that little aspect of a stitch and have everything line up!! Thank you for the tip and the pattern. Side note: for us lefties, the little stitch leans left and right. Simply slide your hook through and on into your stitch as normal. It's a beautiful thing!

It was lovely, thank you! You held the piece up just the right way, there were no fake or overly long nails in the way, and you didn't fidget instead of just doing the stitches, oh, this is heaven!

Thank you for this video. By far, you have been the best instructor on the "split stitch single crochet" I have looked over so many videos. I think I finally got it now. It's that little tiny 'bar' behind the single crochet. Doing that stitch for the dragonfly is different than just straight crocheting rows. I've been crocheting about 40 years and this stitch is new to me. Was a pleasure listening to your accent also. Have a lovely day.

Beautiful!! Thank you so much for sharing! And I'm so happy to see that you hold the "running" yarn over your middle finger while holding on to the project with your thumb and forefinger (left hand), the same as I do! You are the only one that I have seen, besides myself, to do this. It makes me smile, knowing that I have a kindred spirit in this... ❤

Maybe it's an old technique, I was taught by an older lady way back in the early 1970s, I find it so comfortable, when I see the way some people hold their yarn and hook I don't know how they manage crochet but they do! :)

Thank you...... Your description and demonstration of the split single stitch (double for you) was perfect... I was looking for someone to clearly 'define it... Being dyslexic, visual is easier for me to grasp...... Thank you :)

Thank you! I wasn't able to do the center stitches as you directed, but I would like to. Would you be able to show us a better close up of exactly where you stitched there?
@PookieDoodleCrafts
7 жыл бұрын
It's really hard to get the camera in close Eclectifying, sorry about that. It is the little stitch that is hidden inside between the 'V' of the stitch, maybe if you can pull the work open a little you will see it? But don't worry if you can't it will look just as nice the normal way :)

Hi Ruth, It's 3.00mm hook and the yarn is Drops Safran, it's a 100% cotton yarn, one of my favourites. :)

I was wanting to know if you can make a skirt with this
@PookieDoodleCrafts

You probably could if you worked a repeat of each row to the desired width, you would need to taper it to the waist though, so a bit of forward planning would be needed to work out decreases at each side.

I would like to make a blanket, do you know what multiples I would use? I tried another tutorial and she said multiples of 13 so I tried 143 and it didn't work. Would appreciate any help you could give? Thank you 🙂
@PookieDoodleCrafts

Hi Judy. It depends how much space you want between each dragonfly. The one I did had 5 stitches each side the wing row, so if you did multiples of that same pattern there would be 10 sts between each dragonfly wing. If that sounds about right then you would need to do multiples of 19 as that is the pattern repeat for the sample I've done. If you want less sts between them you need to reduce how many sts you do at the start and end of each repeat, perhaps reduce it by 2 each side? Hope that helps but do ask if you need more help :)

Can you please tell me for the chain is it 19 total or 19 +3 the turn back?
@PookieDoodleCrafts
6 жыл бұрын
Hi Jennifer. I had 19 stitches to work on with the 3 chain turn of each row counting as a stitch (So 18 treble and 1x3ch turn). So to begin you need 21 chain. Work 1 tr in 4th ch from hook and then 1 treble in each of the remaining chains, which gives 19 stitches (including the 3ch turn). Hope that makes sense!

Hi Richard, No I didn't get round to doing this one. I did do written instructions for the butterfly stitch and they are not much different, maybe you could adapt it? www.pookiedoodlecrafts.co.uk/2016/01/butterfly-stitch-crochet-tutorial.html
