I am planning to play this as a first time DM. Have been searching all over the web for people playing it to get inspiration on how other DMs do it. This one is the best so far, thank you ! Maybe not the best, or most entertaining or voice acting, all for view on youtube. But this group fels like a normal group playing dnd at it looks great. Perfect example on how to approach a first dnd game

I finally read through the adventure last night. Yeah it is a way better starter set for brand new dm's and pc's. I rate it very highly in that regard. I think LMoP is a way better adventure but it doesn't really do the hand holding that DoSI does. And that is important for brand new people. That being said I think it is still a very cool, short adventure that doesn't waste your time. Well worth it to me. I'm enjoying ya'lls play through so far!

Would have liked to see the pre-made characters used for newbie reference. I know not the most exciting for experienced players, but would have been easier for newbies to follow

This is extremely entertaining. I love this . I’m milking this whole series. The DM is unique. The players are fun. It’s a movie for sure!!!

I'm planning on trying my hand at the game with my kids. None of us have ever played DnD (I have played a little BG3, so I know a bit more than my kids), and I certainly never was a DM, so I'm a bit nervous about that. I figured having premade characters would be good for my kids, as they know nothing about making a character, I don't even know how.

I’m very new and have lots of questions! Why did she/dm roll dice when the adventurer in the top right was surrounded by kobolds and used a fire spell just to warn them?
@QuestsAndChaos

Im sure exactly why or what time this happened, but often they are rolling insight checks, or some other check or see what their reaction might be. There also might be a fake roll just for fun. :)

This is exactly what I was looking for!! I was joking with a girl at a local store I go to that sells dnd stuff about how I wanna play so bad but my friends wouldn’t agree and she convinced me to buy this set and I managed to convince them to give it a chance!!! So I needed to kinda figure out how a game of dnd works and looks so this is perfect!

Are there any live gameplay of dnd of just normal bros playing the game? Not weird people. I want to see how the game is actually played.

I would look at The Dice Stormers Horde of the DragonQueen playthrough. They were an early recording that I found was informative and was an inspiration for us starting this channel.. kzitem.info There is a big difference between home games and streamed games. Streamed games are performances, even if a group tries not to be. Characters and story become so much more important to the audience than mechanics and gameplay. So most streams are going to push harder into role-playing their characters than a home game. the best way to see how it's played is to play, in my opinion. I like how they face a problem with not coordinating their classes in the first episode despite the series being based on a campaign that provides completely filled out and very usable character sheets that would've ensured everyone had their own specific roles, both in the party and in the story, and capabilities. Certainly a missed opportunity to fully showcase the campaign.

I've never been too fond of pre made characters I hear this starter actually has some good ones, but generally I also don't like coordinating classes, i find it more enjoyable to let players play what they're most comfortable with. (The veteransb if any who can play different classes might pick what's missing) this ends up having interesting encounters such as all martial users or all casters where some encounters become trivial and other supposed to be easier encounters end up having to find a new route to complete. Such as having our cleric be the only one without negative to stealth search ahead. Of coarse that's just how I run it, having a balanced party can still be fun.

All playthroughs I have watched are of people that like to hear themselves talk about nothing. I want to see the game in action, not gibber jabber of nothing nobody cares about, especially of personal junk that nobody knows nothing about you. Ill just go hunt someone down in real life thatll actual do an explanation without jibber jabber of nothing.

One thing we found out is that streamed or recorded games tend to do better the more emphasis is put on the story and characters. That's the reason most actual plays move to more of a role-play heavy style. If you are looking for tips and tricks for DMing, Matt Colville at MCDM has in depth videos about that. Our After Dark series has some discussion about he modules and changes made and why.
