@pbfg At the 3 min mark, I agree not the best play call there under pressure rolls out to his right looks like his first read (wr furthest down field to the right) was held, so from there he rolls out and throws it away I'd argue right at the 3:12 mark he has an open man breaking right at the first down mark near the right hash and he doesn't even see it since he is still looking down his first read who was begging for a flag at that point. And that play specifically is a routine first down for an NFL ready QB to throw across his body just a little bit and make that easy completion. Caleb makes that throw 9 times out of 10 with the flick of the wrist. I would have loved to see Caleb Williams tape against UVA lmao @pbfg

9:38 Walker beats press immediately at the LOS. If Maye gets to it sooner, it's a walk in TD. The safety is flat footed and has no shot. He's late again and gets hit. Walker has 2 yards of separation and is 25 yards downfield by the time Maye winds up to throw.
@pbfg

Walker was Maye's 4th read on this play. He had to progress all the way across the field. That's really hard to do. And he did it in 3.1 seconds. That's literally quicker than most QB prospects' average time in the pocket. That's AWESOME post-snap processing. If Maye isn't hit in the chest by an uninhibited DL while throwing, it's probably an amazing TD pass.

I'm going to be honest because I can't stand when people troll guys who are trying to put real work in, and I'm not sure whether you feel the need to try and simplify things in your analysis, but there are comments in your play by play analysis that are flawed and misleading. Maye does enough good things on the football field on his own. There is no need to distort his bad plays.You should not manipulate the film to fit your narrative. For instance, at 3:40 of the video you talk about "really good" pocket manipulation in the face of what you call a "simulated blitz", when in actuality they only brought 4 guys and Maye failed to slide the protection. This was a "pre snap" miss by Drake plain and simple. Also his throw on the flea flicker play was high and behind the receiver, he wasn't trying to "sit" the WR down, he just missed a little bit, it happens. On the "elite" throw, which WAS an example of his arm talent, he should never have ATTEMPTED the throw. It's 1st and 10 in the Red Zone and he's trying to fit it in over the middle to a player that was bracketed. The correct read was to the TE who was coming uncovered in the seam. While his ball placement and throw was elite, this throw and decision does not translate to the league, especially on early downs in the Red Zone. At the 3:60 mark, the throw he made over the middle was decent, but it was a great play the WR, again he wasn't protecting the WR by leaving it short. That route should have hit him in stride. but more imporantly,your commentary that he had no one else to throw to is NOT correct. He had his primary WR running a comeback at the boundary, which in NFL terms is WIDE OPEN if you throw with any anticipation. Anyway, the video is riddled with this stuff. It was not a good game for Maye, but I guess you didn't see it that way.

Trust me, I know what a simulated blitz is and that was not it. They showed four and they came with four. They didn't have the right protection called.
