I really like the moving camera in the intro but I think when you have a still frame ( like removing the surface grime ) a still camera would fit better because of the reduced wobble

whereas I didn't, because I felt literally sea-sick at some moments, and not because of the painting subject matter. Nothing wrong with a bit of hand-held, but zooms and pans should be way slower and less frequent, and the focus should be in-focus. I actually had to skip some of the intro and black light stuff because it got too much.

Yeah, I totally love the camera following Julian as a first-person-perspective, but when there is no moving from one place to another the dissonance gives me something like motion sickness.

A friend of mine has perfect pitch, and he often struggles to enjoy even high quality Broadway shows if some singers are subtly pitchy or they hit a note slightly flat or sharp. I’m a musician and can detect the more obvious issues, but in a way I’m glad I don’t have perfect pitch because I can still enjoy imperfect performances. I wonder, in your case, do you find that your automatically seeing all the problems as a conservator, sometimes conspires against you simply taking art in and enjoying it at a fundamental level? Just curious. :) Thank you so much for your amazing videos and for educating us all. Happy 2021! :)

I have the same problem as your friend. It is interesting to see if that is the same in the art/painting world. My husband makes quality furniture and he picks at all the chairs and sofas he sees and tells me what is wrong with them as well.

The older i get, the less i can enjoy buildings, because i keep seeing flaws. I used to absolutely love a brick building that i'd pass by, built somewhere in the 1850's, one level, small, beautiful work. But the more i look at it, the more i see that the architect ignored the proper way to do the windows, i can see that the bricklayers split the bricks instead of properly laying them so that they fit as one piece, and the brick brow that cordons the facade is uneven, as if laid by a drunken person. So yeah, it must be a thing, but it's not as bad as it seems. Hm, how should i put it, it's critique out of love. Your friend, Julian above, others like us, with our increased "perfection", we wouldn't do it if we didn't love what we do. You should know, you're a musician, you can't be a musician if you don't love what you do, and i'm sure that there's some things you notice too, the older you'll get, the more they become obvious.

@@carlotta4th I agree. I'm not a fan of the new format. I preferred the nice steady closeups, and the parts that would be good on a tripod are now shaky which is distracting. The worst part is when the camera operator adds movement for no reason, eg 10:30
