My last one was phantom of the opera it was a disaster the first night and I went home and cried my eyes out afterward, the second night was WAY BETTER. We only do two shows on all our plays. This one was bad because it was a musical and everyone was ready until I got sick a few days before the show, I recovered by opening day but I got our main character (phantom) sick. (I was the female lead Christine so we had a lot of scenes together.)

As someone who’s been in countless productions this is so accurate my drama teacher is the sweetest but when she gets stressed she turns into this, one of our cast came off and kicked a chair over cuz he’d fucked up his line, our director was one of the older students and he had anger issues and he punched the wall when no one listened to him and at the very end of the last show we all just broke down out of exhaustion

The fact that I understand everything. I was doing Grease this past year. We literally couldn't find like 5 kids at 5 different times. Patty Simcox didn't show up and another girl (who didn't know the lines) had to be her. It was a great show but it was a mess. Especially because Covid delayed our 2nd show.

On the night of a show, the director is always on top of everything and the actors are usually just as serious about it. All of the shows I’ve ever been cast in, the cast was always straight to the point and ready to go before lights up. Before the show is always chaos because there is so much that needs to be checked on, but usually the actors won’t be phased by their own needs until it is literally killing them.

It used to be awful being backstage crew. I had had mic up the performers. They were supposed to come to me and where all the equipment was. But the main singer didn't come, so we couldn't mic her. Me and the teacher helping got blamed and told we should have been chasing after the girl. Even though we were busy micing everyone else.

In my drama club, the anxiety is always insane before a performance and we all go a little crazy, but we always help each other out if we’re nervous. My director, who I call my dad, as he calls me son, would never let any of us yell at each other while feeling nervous, let alone do it himself. We are a family and it really makes me so happy to know we have each other’s backs :]

Last time i had a school play I did house managing (I unlocked the doors and stayed in the lobby, and had to make sure everyone was ready to start) so at the time the teacher told me I went to ask the stage managers if they were ready, but nobody could find them. All up to this point people had completely done my job for me because apparently they didn’t know I was supposed to be doing it. I ended up crying the first night of the show when my friend asked me if I was okay and I just lost it.
