I don't see how people can dislike this video. Kids these days don't appreciate anything. I've always been curious to see how you go about creating a page so thank you for going out of your way to do this, Jim. You rock... and so does technology!

My mind would get comedic if trying to replicate that drawing. Superman getting punched threw a random building, 'housing' different rooms. If I'd start drawing that page,,, it'll be a collateral damage effect. Maybe Superman passing by a bathroom stall or the cafeteria. Almost 5 hours on the page, and showing us how to draw on a page 🤘

Jim, Jimbo, Jimmy Jim, you’re art has inspired me for over a decade and aided me countless times during my own artistic crusade. One of my struggles has always been spotting large level of shadow in complete black. Would you do the kindness of streaming and coaching your process for choosing light and detail how much of what you do is fundamental and how much is for stylistic effect? Would really aid in taking my art next level. Thank you so much for what you do. Keep up the talent. You’re a boss.

"He is going to crash into these cars. *Sigh* So we don't think people were killed, we're gonna make them parked cars." That sigh says a lot. It must be tiring to draw these silly comics years on end, and they just keep repeating themselves, heroes never kill anyone, even by accident, which would at least be understandable and realistic.
@joshuakusuma5953
6 жыл бұрын
n0u4n I'm guessing you don't read a lot of comics?
@n0u4n
6 жыл бұрын
Not much. Hellboy and all things Sergio Aragones is pretty much all I read in comics these days. So I take it you think I'm wrong on something in my comment? Is it that the heroes DO kill people nowadays in comics (talking about DC and Marvel specifically) or that comics don't repeat themselves?
@joshuakusuma5953
6 жыл бұрын
n0u4n Comics don't repeat themselves. Robert Kirkman's Invincible being an example. It's a superhero comic but time does move on. Status quo is not something that's imposed. The characters change, their personalities change, people who die stay dead. There's even a conclusion to the story. And that's just one out of at least a dozen I can name where the endless cycle of retcons, relaunches and returning to old grounds aren't a thing. Any number of Vertigo books like Sandman, Hellblazer and Preacher for example. WildStorm books like Warren Ellis' Stormwatch and the Authority all have a feeling of progression. Characters die, people move on with their lives, they evolve and change. Also, not sure on which era for DC and Marvel you're talking about, but early incarnations of Superman, Batman, Iron Man and others... they kill. They don't mind causing fatalities. It was only during the Silver Age that the no fatalities thing was established to make the comics more child friendly.
@n0u4n
6 жыл бұрын
Like I said in my comment, I was talking about DC and Marvel. Now I haven't read them in ages, but it's my understanding that Batman for example still has the no kill rule. Otherwise I'm sure he would have killed Joker in the comics already. I think the same goes with all the other DC and Marvel heroes. If that has changed then I admit my error. But those comics do repeat and reboot themselves pretty often, and heroes die only to be brought back by the time the next movie comes out.
@joshuakusuma5953
6 жыл бұрын
n0u4n Well, I didn't think you specified it and from that line of thought, abit of miscommunication happened. For that that, I apologize. Fun bit of trivia, though: in Scott Snyder's run, Batman tried to bury the Joker alive in the Endgame storyline. Long story short: Joker couldn't walk, he tried to crawl his way to salvation inside the collapsing cave him and Batman were in and Batman just held him there until the cave's ceiling came down. So yeah, Batman was trying to kill him and himself. Did it work? No. But it does show it's not for lack of trying.

Part of the value for the artist is to be able to sell the original page later on. Not only is he getting his page rate, but cash money on top of that later on.
@NMEZero666

A pro comic artist friend of mine will do layouts digitally, pencil traditionally, and then scan all his pages and send the inker the scans. He keeps his inks, penciller keeps his pencils. Each one can sell their originals.
