Way late to this, but jist think about their personality first before you even lay down one line. Ifbyoubthnk about what they do and don't like and what colors they like, then you can think about the type of clothes they would wear, how they prefer their hair style, short or long or in between? What Gender are They? Are they skinny or fat or in between? Are they short or tall? Etc. Whatbcolrsnwould thrybusually wear? What shoes are they most fond of? Just ask and answer these types of questions and do the same with hobbies Also, what she are They? The more you can ask these.kinda questions about your character, the more clear you will be able to see how your character should look, and act, etc.

This is a PrismaColor black pencil. It's great as it's wax based. Sometimes it takes a bit to get used to it as it can wear down faster...but it's fantastic!

This pencil is a PrismaColor Pencil. It's wax based and pretty fun to use but wears down semi-quickily....so I try to keep a lot of them (pre-sharpened) laying around in arms distance in case I need a new one with a sharper tip for the details in a drawing.

"The female form is a little more beautiful than the ugly man" UGH I hate this kind of thinking. This is the reason why we end up with a lot of body variety for male characters and all female characters end up with similar body shapes. Because straight male artists are so obsessed with making the ladies PRETTY. Always have to be PRETTY. Guess what? Plenty of us love the male form, which can be majestic and beautiful as well. And ugly women also exist! I loved the video, but things like these annoy me so much!

You're only frustrating yourself and oppressing your own thinking. He's not even drawing a body here. But genetically for body and facial features 95% of the time a woman's features are more rounded and softer. That's why artists say what they say. And all forms of art draw upon exaggeration.
