i tried this out for myself, and a few things Jazza didn’t mention, are: 1.) The camera on your phone will constantly go in and out of focus causing what you’re trying to trace to go blurry. 2.) They have this 3D bird character that shows up on your screen to give you tips, and as you try to draw, he constantly sits on top of your drawing so that you can’t see what you’re doing and there’s no way to get him to go away. 3.) If you don’t want to pay or can’t afford it, the free version only gives you one thing to draw and it’s a cartoon-y penguin. There are no other options, forcing you to have to pay in order to truly use the app. Aside from those, the app constantly crashed on me as well, and he was 100% right about the depth perception thing! I found myself constantly trying to look past my phone to see what i was trying to trace, only to realize i’d forgotten that the image isn’t actually on the paper lol This app has great intentions, but needs a whole lot of work and a whole lot of improvements before i could say it would be worth spending any money. I do have Jazzas app, and i’ve had it for years! It genuinely is a lot better than this and is a ton of fun!! I believe it’s only .99 or 2.00? It’s been awhile from the time of purchase, but i’m still using the app 5 years later haha

Here's a cool challenge idea: paint a detailed picture of a famous gaming character with whatever type of paint you want... but there's a catch, you can only use vertical brush strokes at a 90 degree angle in relation to the bottom/top of the canvas. (you would be allowed to start with a pencil drawing that does not apply to this rule) Meaning the "curved" sections will appear blocky giving it a pixel art like look. If you really want to make things interesting you could limit yourself to the sort of CGA graphics color palette.

This reminds me of this ad I saw on Instagram for Repaper, which seems to be a ring you attach to your drawing instrument of choice, and as you draw on paper (that you have to put on the "tablet" that comes with the ring) it translates the movement into your drawing program. It's interesting, but the official website has it costing more than my tablet did.
@peanutthelion815

I left an absolutely scathing review of this on the app store and I stand by it. Sometimes I get "stuck" in a particular drawing and want to compare my drawing to the reference image. If you're in the same boat I'd recommend the free snapseed app and just open your image, then add the image as a double exposure. And it lets you warp the image if you took it at a bad angle or something. But *occasionally* SketchAR works kind of well and it's nice. Very rarely.

Jazza, the reason the app is jumping so much is because you have so many different lights pointed at it. It cant read where it should be, because your hand casts a slight shadow one way and it reads the lighting differently, causing the image to alter. Try it with less lighting, record in front of a window during high noon for good video because we all understand perfectionism ❤
