I'm 34 and grew up in LA - Kobe came into the league when I was 7 years old and I got him for 20 straight years. I think I caught 95%+ of Laker games during that run. My favorite kobe moment by far is the cold af no-flinch on the Matt Barnes ball fake... Let me explain: For over almost 15 years at that point I'd heard the most insane and unbelievably psychotic things about Kobe Bryant's mentality and work ethic (this was pre social media). The crazy hours in the gym. Studying cheetahs in the wild how they move their tails for balance. He learned Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata on piano. I loved every single story, but I always in the back of my head wondered: is any of this real? is it all just a bit? Is it just what he wants us to think? ... Then Matt Barnes happened. The dude put the ball literally 1" away from kobe's face and the guy didn't flinch a millimeter. It was the first time that completely verified every single story I'd heard throughout my childhood that YES - Kobe actually is, in fact, a 100% psychopathic cold af mf.

Mine was when he tore his Achilles against GSW, walked back to the free throw line on his own steam, nailed both shots and then walked off on his own two legs... says a lot about how tough he was and how much he cared about putting in nothing less than 100% effort

My favorite Kobe moment was every time he gave an interview I learned a gem, he was goated on and off the Court, but when he spoke I got to learn so much from him. I wasn't as gifted a basketball player, but I challenged myself to get better everyday and be a good teammate. Now I apply that same energy in my professional life/personal life. We all have to hang it up someday, and watching and learning from the Mamba I know that I'm maximizing all of my talents to be the best husband, coworker, son, and brother I can be. I have Kobe to thank for that. 🐐🏀🐍 Its' so inspirational to see and learn how amazing he was even when he wasn't playing basketball. When your coaches say you gotta take classes seriously, I think he stands out as someone who was gifted on the court, but in the classroom too. He was an all around stud, and I'm so grateful that we had him in this world because his life was so legendary and inspires, those who know, to be the Best we can be. Long live the Black Mamba.

My favorite Kobe moment. Is when I got to watch him play live. I bought floor seats at the Delta center in Salt Lake City Utah and watched him destroy their whole team and his footwork live. It’s just a whole different story when you hear all the shit talking that goes on. Wow that was amazing. What a great memory I got to enjoy. It was a treat watching him play.

24 for me. The years with Pau were my favorite because he was the man, no question. 8 had to split being the man with Shaq. I believe had Shaq stayed they would have 8+ rings and by 2007 or 8 Kobe would have still been the Man full time with the Lakers. 2010 was the best putting away the Celtics!

I got to meet him during his retirement season, last game in Memphis, Draymond’s favorite team 😂, and it was just cool how it all happened… I was with my cousin and after the game, Memphis allows fans to go in the back and wait for the players to come out to locker room for autographs and whatever. Anyways, we were standing there waiting and I saw a bunch of people crowding someone as they’re walking towards the exit and in my head I immediately said “ain’t nobody else in this arena they’d be like that for other than Kobe so I grabbed my cousin and we just ran straight over there. His security was trying to get us to go away but he said “naw let em through.” Idk if it was just because it was his retirement season or what, but he stood there and talked with us for 30 minutes about any and everything. Allowed us to take pics, signed anything we handed him, etc… He was just a super nice guy and couldn’t have been any more different than what he was portrayed as by the media during his career. I grew idolizing that man and I legit couldn’t talk at first… My cousin had to nudge me to get me to say something but I’ll hold onto that memory forever. R.I.P Mamba

Thank you Draymond for sharing such a personal moment. I can't pick a favorite era of Kobe to be honest. He continually evolved in front of the eyes of our city and the game of basketball. The older he got, the more I appreciated his heart. Yes, his heart. No one had more passion than him on the court. He bled for the game and the Laker fans. Magic is still my favorite player though. I'm a "Showtime" kid. Draymond, can't wait for you to be on TNT when you're ready to hang up the sneaks.
