I bought this game after hearing everyone and their mother comparing it to Morrowind as I'm currently on a elderscrolls/TES-like bender while my actual Skyrim modlist is on the fritz, (getting the CK engine to work the way you want it to can be like trying to appease the machine spirit, sometimes.) I like it actually, I like it alot, but if anything this game seems closer to King's Field than Morrowind or anything pre-morrowind, (Which makes complete since, considering that it seems the game the devs published just before this one DIRECTLY states King's Field as inspiration.) There's no looting arms and armor, no third person camera, and you can't even name yourself, not to mention ALL of your attacks actually hit (regardless of whether or not they're blocked or otherwise effectively nullified.) If anything, the way I think about it, Morrowind/TES-type games are akin to CRPGs in a 3d environment and this is more like an ImSim.Still a great game though, and of course another great review, hoss!

I love the anti sponsorships. It's so nice to not have crap hawked at me for a change. Totally understand why KZitemrs do it, they need to eat and stuff, but I do kinda miss the days where KZitem actually paid their creators and SponsorBlock wasn't nigh mandatory to keep your own sanity.

Okay, I'm not normally the type to comment but I feel like I've got something I want you to hear... or read I guess. Please read past the abrasive bit, I assure you I have no intent to insult you or offend you. I've been watchin' your work for a while now. I'm confident that if we were to meet, irrespective of the existence of this channel, at best we'd be polite and professional with eachother, maybe sustaining a begrudging and strained friendship if we had to. Different personality types or so. That is said because I think it showcases my sincerity when I say that I respect the hell out of you and what you're doing with this channel. When I first heard you say "Your art isn't content." I thought it was pretentious and self serving. (you might be able to see why I think we've got opposing personalities) I kept watching your work because you keep finding and showcasing interesting games. Then you kept it up. You continued to work harder to produce more and raise your quality wherever you could, further doing everything you can to minimise the cost of your art, for your audience. This is not how a self serving pretentious person acts. You are blatantly a man of principle and I cannot express clearly enough how much I think that matters. I try to be the same way with what I do. Your persistence and conviction has influenced me. I have grown to dislike the word content, directly as a result of you. Keep it up as best you can, just please don't burn out. Remember that humans need enrichment too. I humbly suggest a holiday, abroad if and when you can. I highly recommend Kruger National Park in South Africa, it's a beauty unlike any other I have seen on Earth, save for Lake Kariba, but that's in a very dangerous and expensive country. That last bit isn't the most important part of this, I'm just not sure how to express well wishes properly. I hope you and The Boy are happy and healthy both now and for many, many years to come.

Dread Delusion is somehow this large open world utterly absent of untrimmed fat. There are so many nooks and crannies to discover, each one with its own aspect of horror to uncover and a question to ask yourself. The dev cooked so hard with this one.

Yes, Dread Delusion is like classic Elder Scrolls. But it’s also like Deus Ex. Or Legacy of Kain. Or Fallout. Or Thief. Or Planescape: Torment. Not because it plays like them, looks like them, or is written like them; but because at its heart, it is like them a labor of love that deploys all of its imagination to immerse you in another world… and it's something you see less and less in big video games releases.

To add something about the meal prep. If you have a branch of Kroger in your area (different names based on state) you can usually get a whole salmon slab wild caught frozen for $7 roughly. It's a good game, I don't think it has much in common with any Elder Scrolls, specially Morrowind, except maybe the graphics and that it's 'weird', but the gameplay itself and what it offers in terms of immersion, it definitely shows that it's an indie game and not enough resources to make an expanded setting with more branching narrative paths and evolving world that truly changes with character's decision. On it's own , it's a fun with incredibly simplistic gameplay and sometimes even boring combat, and World that feels very linear if you're used to Morrowind. But, the narrative and the lore def carries the game, it's very interesting.

My main criticism of Lunacid is that once the first impression of immaculate vibes wore off, the lack of balance and the shallowness of the combat became really apparent. A good idea that wasn't fully fleshed out. My hunch is that Dread Delusion will be similar and I hope I'm wrong. Massive respect to the developers of both games - these are exactly the sort of game that appeals to me, and I'm glad we are getting things like this.

Star Trucker is a great game and I’d consider it an immersive sim. Its also on gamepass and so it might get a decent amount of views. A BGs 3 video would be good and maybe a new Typhon video or a video going over Arkane’s best immersive sims along with hopes for the Blade game they’re working on. Just a few recommendations for videos but keep it up, I love seeing these indie titles I’ve never heard of. You’re the reason I bought Shadows of Doubt and many other games that have become some of my favorites. This genre needs more attention and funding!

I generally quite liked it, the aesthetic is amazing, the worldbuilding is very cool, and I appreciated that the game was fundamentally uninterested in grinding and really did everything it could to incentivize exploration. I do have some criticisms, mainly that I found the game a bit frontloaded. everything laid out in the introductory missions is great, but it doesn't really develop all that much as you get further into the game. enemies will have more health and hit a bit harder (which is mostly fine, though stuff in the last couple areas did start to feel a bit spongy), but you don't really need to do anything different to fight them, and can usually just run right past without much difficulty. the airship you eventually unlock is neat too. but you get it _very_ late in the game, and there's only a few new places to go with it. further, while it's clear that the developers wanted players to explore as much as possible, the rewards for doing so unfortunately really fall off later on. throwing knives and a few coppers just don't really matter outside the early game. while, if you want to use bows as a major source of damage, you'll end up short on arrows very quickly. I'm being a bit critical, but I really did like what was there and have no regrets about purchasing and playing the game, I just wanted a little more than what I got. I will be keeping an eye on future projects from these devs, and really look forward to checking out whatever they come up with next.

What you say at the minute 12-13 about getting lost in the world is both interesting and concerning. Oblivion is a horrendous example for that. Sure, it has a big world to get lost in, but the main quest doesn't want you to. You are the Hero, you have to Save The World. Now! Schnell! Sooner than that! You Were Already Late Ten Minutes Before Purchasing The Game! It All Hinges On You! Sure, there's no real damage if you postpone it for months in game or IRL, but if anything, that it's even more immersion breaking. Don't create urgency if you can't or don't want to enforce it otherwise the believability of your world falls apart. So, what is the plot of Dread Delusion? Does it accomodate or even encourage forgetting about it (like, to remain in Bethesda's world, how Morrowind does), or did you forget about it despite its best effort? That's a crucial point to me.
@GameDevYal

Without having played it myself yet, the way Charl summarizes it as "you're an unwilling agent of the inquisition" makes it sound like it would be in-character for the player to drag their feet; they don't have any personal stakes in the main plot and would rather get out of it if possible.

vertices, and in most games you can disable that effect, like in ultrakill. there is objectively never a good reason to start playing a game without checking your settings first. even console games nowadays are adding in useful settings like disabling camera shake or disabling ugly post-process effects like chromatic aberration and depth of field. new to PC gaming I presume?

I think we need to up the ante on Indiween a bit (a wee bit, if you will.) Instead of totalling all purchases to the price of a single AAA release, you probably should aim at a price of a QUADRUPLE A releases, such as critically acclaimed game Skull and Bones, with it's price tag of $70. Why exactly that? Well, because 4 A is more than 3 A and to highlight ridiculousness of "quad A" meme better.

I really wanted to get into this one, but the actual gameplay is just too shallow and perfunctory for me. It feels like they created a game world first, and then sprinkled in some basic game mechanics so that their walking simulator would technically have gameplay. Like one of those 30-minute indie games that are really just there to walk you through a short interactive story, but stretched out over hours. Doesn't help either that the game relies on my absolute least favourite video game level design trope, floating islands.
@Pimploaf_YTP

I think there's nothing inherently wrong with a "game" that's mostly about walking around and seeing cool stuff, e.g. Yume Nikki or Dream Emulator. The "genre" gets a bad reputation for being essentially holding W while someone talks at you for a half hour. It obviously doesn't appeal to everyone and the combat is basic and unengaging, but I'd count it on the good side of the walkabout genre because the focus is on discovery.
