Dreams are one of the things I love about existence. The fact that we go to sleep, and then our brain takes us to a different world. It’s fascinating that we go beyond the matrix of our mind during sleep. It’s really cool.

I trip out on this sometimes. Makes me think about the nature of reality. Specifically, how science always says that to simulate the universe, we'd need a computer the size of the universe. And I think, idk my brain seems to simulate the an entire existence when I dream. So maybe the universe really is mental and not some vast physical entity that we exist within.

I’m a pretty logical person, but I feel like dreams are beyond the comprehension of science as we know it now. Sleep paralysis is like the scariest experience ever, I know it happens to a lot of people. I also have recurring dreams in the same locations (ish) and same people. I can almost sense when I’m about to have a bad dream or recurring dream, if I’m taking a nap on the couch during the day or just feeling more emotional. Recently, I had a very close friend die unexpectedly, and she was in my dream that very night she passed. She spoke to me, joked with me, and left. Never had a dream about her beforehand, and haven’t since afterward despite how much rumination and shock I’ve been in thinking about her. With the amount of recurring dreams I have, that come so predictably and easily, I would think I’d see her in my dreams again. It just hasn’t happened. It makes me feel like our dreams can be a mix of visions that come from outside of ourselves.

I never dream unless my life is in danger. The dreams warns me not to go, Have saved my life 3times. Our third eye must be really special or this could be god, I think we as humans are way more powerful than what ppl think if we become spiritual. This has to be something we can access when a person like me with zero faith have made it happen 3times, I'm sure dreams are real. I have one friend left from that life so why did I survive, It makes no sense. Someone or something were protecting me I'm sure of it, Dreams are a blessing listen to them.

I take advantage of that. In life, I have an extremely repetitive, bland, boring, lack-luster, life. I used to try to change my life many times, but always returned to the bland existence I had. But then I started having wonderful, fulfilling, stimulating, entertaining, dreams where I am very important. The dreams got so incredibly good that I quit trying to improve my waking life. Now, I just dredge through my waking life so I can return to my dream existence. My waking life is now my secondary life. My dream life is now my primary existence. Now, I have no desire to change my waking life. This is good because my waking life is very profitable for me. Now that I accepted my mundane existence, my pay keeps going up because I do not try to find something else to work. I also do not try to find somewhere else to live, meet people, make friends, nor try to find a girlfriend. My dreams are stimulating enough to keep me on my current path without wanting to switch.

The best dream I ever had, was a flying dream. I wanted to fly so much, in the dream, that I began flying out of nowhere. I woke up excited and tried to show my family that I could fly. On my first attempt, I jumped but gravity did its thing. After two attempts, the third try was a little successful, I levitated for a couple of secs and then it stopped. I went outside tried and tried to fly when I was just about to give up, I legit started flying and I could see the aerial view of my neighborhood. I landed back home and I was shouting "eureka! I cracked it. I know how to fly." I started writing strange symbols on the soil, it was some formula for an anti gravity thing that facilitated the flying. I ran into the house to tell my family, then I woke up for real for real... I couldn't remember the formula all I remember to this day is some funny 'F' symbol... The false awakening had me thinking I was Clark Kent 🤣🤣🤣 dreams are crazy.

As a child and a teenager , I could visually daydream by shuffling my eyes. I would make adventures. I was an observer and would go to sleep every night this way. My sister and I joined each other in the same story . We believed we were seeing the same things. Strangely we started off by shutting our eyes in bed . Then we had a little door in our foreheads which we would open and enter our land. We had had never heard this process Just made it up ourselves. . I found when I was a young adult that I could lucid dream. Nightmares very occasionally turned up. I became aware. then knew it was a nightmare. Then by concentrating on it, I would wake up. Now I am old sleep itself has different patterns Sometimes periods of sleeplessness. Then .other times I sleep well. Sometimes I am aware of dreams but now do not remember them.

My dreams are like movies, linear. I usually always remember them, at least for a while. Rarely bad. I can do lucid dreaming, where I can kinda control them. My parter, not so much. He yells, thrashes, and almost never remembers them. Dreaming is so strange, and so personal. I’ve noticed that people I know that play competitive sports dream about being late for a game, not having their equipment, scholars being late for tests or not having pencils. Interesting. I find it fascinating that some people discover things, write great songs, etc. while asleep.

Lucid Dreaming is much more common (or perhaps these are more easily remembered) when one wakes up, then goes back to sleep again to achieve one more "cycle" of REM sleep. And during this time of a Quarantine and Pandemic, many of us have a perfect opportunity to do this every day. Try "sleeping in" between say 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. after first waking up, and see if you can enter the state of Lucid Dreaming, or at least perhaps more readily remember them. If you're lucky, you might be able to enter the Lucid Dreaming phase again and again, almost at will, during a state of heightened sensitivity to experiencing them. In their most vivid form, you may even "wake up" and still know that you're dreaming. - j q t -

I agree, you can do anything, I do daily, multiples times a day, mostly through sleep paralysis/hypnagogic state, cause its a lot easier for me compared to normal "memory techniques". But does get boring after some times, been at it several years, studied it a lot in and outs. As a science person myself, I've discovered, these hallucinations are the same with astral projections, near death experiences, alien abductions and other paranormal claims.. Its funny that, I've seen other scientists make the same claims I have, thats what I love about science, we all can make the same connections once you apply some critical thinking skills. We're just dreaming. Only scary thing is, is this life a "dream" too>? In our dreams, we don't really exist to begin with, thats just our materialistic ego, we can dream without a "body" even. Easiest way to learn is to study, a lot, and look at lucid dreaming forums. www.reddit.com/r/luciddreaming good place to start.

In my opinion, nightmares help us to wake up from kind of a dangerous situation while sleeping, that can put our life into risk of death. Always when I wake up after having a nightmare, I realize that or my arm is numb, or I am sleeping over my chest and I am pressing my heart too much, or I cannot breath well because of a lack of oxygen in my room or because accidentally I covered my head with the blanket. I enjoy my dreams and one day I just woke up with this "theory" of why we have nightmares. Great video!

Your post reminds me of one of my 'favorite' sleep incidents, if favorite is the right word to use... I woke up in the middle of the night to an odd sensation. As I woke up more I realized that there was a cold, clammy, 'dead' hand on my face. I freaked out! I must have jumped ten feet into the air as I sprang out of bed. I stood there in a panic until I noticed that my left arm was just stupidly dangling there; I had no control of it. It was then that I realized that I must have been sleeping on it in such a way that its blood circulation had been blocked. Slowly, my arm began to get feeling again. I have always felt that had I not woken up I might very well have done serious/permanent damage to my arm.

Sometimes I get stuck in NREM 1 and cant transition into a deeper sleep and those hypnic jerks will keep me awake for hours. I have lucid dreams now and then. The sleep paralysis has only happened like 3 times over the last 5 or so years. Pretty terrifying. But just the other night I woke up laughing my ass off from a hilarious dream. They are all over the place. Sometimes they are so horrible I try as hard as I can to wake myself up. Other times they are so amazing I get upset when I wake from them. Winning the lottery dreams suck waking up from.

In your sleep paralysis, do you ever think you are say, being abducted by aliens or something like that? Legit question. Because that’s a hypothesis about this. I guess in the old days it would be fairies or the like. I’ve never had it, nor know anyone who does. Is it frightening? I’m so curious about it. My kids HAVE had the night terrors, walking, and it’s something to behold, but they didn’t seem to remember doing it. My own dreams are pretty vivid, and a lot of times lucid. Oof, same, my friend. I've gotten used to my absurdly vivid, complicated, and magnificently strange dreams/nightmares; as a result, SOME part of me, SOMEWHERE, recognizesthat I'm not going to die. It makes those crazy bananas dreams SO much more fun I had the most fucked up dream the other day. I was huddled together with my parents - We were looking up at the sky and there was this sudden change in.. pressure, almost? And an inaudible sort of WHOOSH that felt heavy heavy against my chest. Aaaand then the sky began to split open -- It looked like fabric tearing and the light that came in through the rip was bright white and blinding. I said to my parents, 'It'll only hurt for a second' and then I woke up! It was so jarring and it only lasted for an instant, but I just can't get it out of my head. I have insomnia, night terrors, sleep paralysis, some other shit I always forget the initials. I had to wear a helmet to bed for awhile because I'd sleepwalk downstairs and face the wall very closely, sometimes standing and sometimes standing, Blair Witch style, aaaand then upon waking I fall backward and crack my head in the counter or the stone-ass fucking floor. Sleep is wacky🙃

Last year of my senior year (2020) and back in October 2019, I kept having reoccurring (dreams, nightmares, visions) whatever you want to call it- but for 3 weeks this dream kept consisting of cloudy grey skies, my own depiction of how my neighborhood looks (nearby schools were a lot closer to one another), and I always ended up wandering around my high school, but the high school in my dream had 2 stories to it, not its 1 level in reality. I actually felt like it was a school that was truly worth attending, where friends were in each class, and teachers were motivated to teach. I think i should’ve known from the cloudy grey skies that none of that was real. Because only so many months later in reality, the COVID pandemic hit and all schools were closed- thus ending my senior year. I feel like the cloudy grey sky depiction predicted that my time there that was coming to a sad ending. If one day this high school builds a two story all around the school, I’m coming back here and updating this post.

Doors/some known rooms leading not to the next room I know but to somewhere else. 5. Seeing dead relatives in very lively form. Rarely have I experienced realistic dreams, although some deja vu in reality might actually trace their origins to some dreams! And yes, I am possibly a lucid dreamer, like not exactly control fully, but I am well aware sometimes of the events about to unfold, and I can mould the 'future' in those dreams as per my wish. Sometimes I do really 'check' what the other outcomes of events could be, by altering my actions, i.e. by controlling the brain of my figure in the dreamworld. In other cases, I am unable to control by body and seem to be manipulated by someone else.

You want to hear something weird? If I drink or smoke pot I walnt dream. So in smoking weed I've probably had 5 dreams in the last 3 years. I honestly forgot that people dreamed. Side note: those sober dreams tend to be super vivid and scary when you do have them during brief periods of sobriety

I had a random dream about my grandmother before she was even diagnosed with Cancer and passed away.. And I immediately woke up and called my mother to take her to the doctors because I live in VA now and she lived in CT.. Like I was getting the heads up about her future passing or something. Whats even stranger is that after she was diagnosed she passed quick and suddenly and peacefully she was her normal peaceful self up talking and carrying on as usual then when every one left to go home and give her rest she abrutly passed in her sleep... Like she did not suffer one bit or was in any pain like the typical cancer patient it was like she was completely spared from it, still gives me chills thinking about it. Like normally people with cancer unfortunately have pain, loose weight, chemo ect... Like it was so quick and unexplainable by normal standards.. I hope one day I'm spared like she was because I try to be a gentle soul and treat everyone with kindness like she did in life.

I've had all kinds of dreams, some elaborate and very realistic, some mystical or very illogical, and many with people I've never met in real life. Dreams, I believe, are often a regurgitation of routine thoughts & daily actions, but the brain, which is always active, throws in mixed memories of faces, places and events. Flying and doing impossible things is part of that "invention".

I have had several main themes in my (very vivid) dreams, my entire life. I’m 56. One involves walking through amusement parks, and being on roller coasters and various rides. It never makes sense or ends well, and I always wake up right before some type of accident or tragedy happens. Another involves the ocean, or other body of water. There’s always a bridge involved, inevitably I end up falling into the water right before I wake up. Ski lifts and skiing are another common theme for me. The last one is in some type of structure, a home, hotel, where it usually has some type of room or passage that causes me great claustrophobic reactions. Sometimes I am being chased. I can’t run, I’m moving in slow motion, I can fly at times I have learned to wake myself up by screaming out loud, although I always experience sleep paralysis at first and can’t get out the scream at first. I wake up hyperventilating and in complete panic. I thrash about and punch. This doesn’t always happen, mainly wren I’m stressed out or overtired It sucks

HOW TO DREAM LUCID: 1) Close your eyes. 2) Notice the very subtle colors (usually reds and blues) 3) Just relax and focus on the visuals. Watch the colors slowly morph around in the blankness of your mind. 4) With no effort, your brain will slowly add detail to these blobs of color and before you know it, you'll be in dreamland. By consciously focusing on shapes and colors as we fall asleep, we create a sort of bridge to our non-conscous. Try thinking of what you want to dream about like scenes from a movie. After steps 1 - 4, put that"movie" in and hit play. Invision your dreamland adventure. 😴✌

I think u are the central voice in many number of the thoughts that dwell. Experiencing almost 5 days or so without sleep tells me this. Those other thought areas hold certain memories with a problem. It stays in the back of your head quietly deciphering, finding an answer. It raises it's hand then u reaccess that one situation. So when u are asleep, you are letting all those thoughts combine and mind and mentally start to visualize those problems you thought about but left them in the back of your mind. They all try to explain the problems without the overload

When I was 15 years old and emerging from a coma age a traumatic brain injury, I kept dreaming that I was asleep and couldn't wake up. Whenever I tried, "They" (it was never clear in the dream who "they" were) kept "pushing me back under, saying that I'm asleep and can't wake up." Of course my coma was being discussed in my presence all the time, though my family, friends, and care team wild have been thrilled if I had worn up sooner. One day for some reason (it was the day they were going to drill a hole in my skull to relieve the pressure on my brain, but I didn't understand that), my dream self was tired of being "made" to stay asleep, so I fought really hard to wake up-- which kept my skull unbridled and in one piece! I do believe some part of my brain was functioning and protecting itself, especially since it's entirely in character for me to resist doing something until the last possible moment.

There is one thing you can take with you from dream to reality.... music. Just before waking up, a couple of times every year I experience dreaming music with perfect sound often with big orchestra sometimes with choir. The melody and harmony is however simple but genial, "less is more". I could never compose such music in awakened state. I quickly grab my mobile put it into recording mode and whistle the dreamt music while clasping my fingers marking the beat. I have about 10 recordings like this. The Rollings Stones guitarist Keith Richards dreamt the riff in "Satisfaction". Don't know how he remembered it after waking up.

Following on, I am summarising the basic ideas of dreaming here. You can see how much sense it makes I think Dreaming is Nature’s solution to the problems emotions cause animals and humans. An emotion can be thought of as an expectation or a physical preparing for action. For example, a worry is an emotion felt in your body that is expecting action on your part to clear away a potential problem in the future, an anger is requiring action to defend yourself in some way and joy is the anticipation of a pleasure. When the emotion is not acted upon it then stays in the body festering and filling you up and uncompleted. And what dreaming does every night is discharge that uncompleted emotion - by playing it out in metaphor. Dreaming is the emotional flush toilet that frees yours emotions to serve you properly the next day.

I once had a dream that I woke up and walked to the bathroom. All was mundane until I turned on the light and saw a giant sunflower growing from my head! It didn’t hurt, but stunned me. As I began to muster the courage to probe it with a hand, my slight jostle of the root caused my head to crumble like topsoil. Still feeling nothing, the last memory is of my vision splitting as I saw my eyes fall to different chunks of face in the mirror. Unforgettable, yet utterly meaningless in any manner I’ve pondered it.

Ive had sleep paralysis all my life & normally it’s terrifying but I had this one time recently where it was amazing and I just enjoyed it: I woke up paralysed & sensed a ghost in the room. I slowly levitated upwards out of the bed then I was shoved upright & forward right up to the wall opposite the bed - it has many small framed pictures (abstract patterns) and I could see every detail which was eerie as I didn’t think I knew them in such detail in waking life. The presence then led me to the sofa bed and I felt fully awake and thought it was over and went back to bed. I turned over in bed and on the pillow next to me was the presence - it was a very young girl sitting up & looking at me with completely black eyes. I remember in my dream thinking ffs, what a cliché, so I rolled back over and went back to sleep (although technically I had been asleep the whole time). It was very cool. I’ve not had one since so maybe I made peace with it but I bet I’ll get one tonight after having written this!
