New Amsterdam Travel Video- Drenthe is a Dutch province in the northeast part of the Netherlands with a nice mix of culture, history and nature. It's most spectacular attractions are the 54 dolmens (hunebedden, in Dutch) which dot the countryside. Dolmens are huge, ancient stone burial grounds, that survived over 5,000 years. (They resemble mini- Stonehenges) Many are clustered around highway N34 but with the help of a map we biked to a few closer to our vacation house near Assen. In Assen, you can visit the Drenths Museum and in Emmen you cannot miss the amazing Wildlands Animal Park. There are also 3 national parks- perfect for hiking and biking; and a and unusual lake with a bright, aqua color.
