The fibres are natural. That makes a huge difference. You'd probably be in cotton over wool and silk. It seems counter intuitive but being covered up actually helps to regulate temperature. It would also protect the skin.

i could learn a thing or two from a regency gentleman - as i have some experience with (faux) leather pants, i was wondering how they would stay comfortable in them - of course! wear something underneath to keep the leather away from your skin! can’t believe i never thought of that. tights would work well. i also loved lucas’ narration, you’re both so cute.

That said this was a wonderful video and the Lucas was just as enjoyable a narrator as you Izabela!! ❤️

So if it was raining outside when he arrived to somebody's home would he have worn that big long coat inside for the whole visit, or would he have taken it off and gone around in just a shirt sleeves? That seems naked and undressed somehow. But at the same time it seems inappropriate to wear a great big long coat indoors if it's wet....
@adorabell4253
4 жыл бұрын
It depends. If just going to town where he might pop in to see a friend, then he would leave the coat on, since the visit would be very short. Long visits tended to be planned so he would have a coat on underneath. This is daytime attire, though, so a country gentleman would be out working aka doing business like checking on the home farm (that feeds his house) or looking after tenant issues, or doing wholesale purchasing for his estate. In this case all the indoor interactions would take place in public areas such as shops or the front (or only) room of tenants (if the gentleman was hands on). Usually, though, all this would be outside, so no worries about clothing. For planned visiting or civil engagements the dress would be totally different with finer materials, closer fit, and, likely, a carriage to keep away from any potential rain.

I read a description of a "very fashionable beau" taking THREE HOURS to dress ... a large part was spent on the tightly fitting gloves, which he ripped a pair in the process of trying to pull them on. A lot of the time was probably spent on musing which thing would fit well with which other thing ... according to that day's mood.
