I never realized there were so many stately homes in Britain as this series reveals. I'm glad to see most are open to the public. I can't wrap my mind around what it would be like to be born and brought up in one.

Beautiful but it seems to me that most are not exactly cosy - and probably difficult to heat and cool ... and could be a long hike to the kitchen, or the toilet ...

Love the little waste bin with A.M. Street's poem on it. 'Resemble not the slimy snails...' Drew, I don't know if you read these, but if the seat belt chafes your neck like mine does, (You're always pulling the chest belt aside). Find one of those belt key clips that are a flattened 'S' shape. You can hook it up under the lap belt and then pull the chest belt down and up into the other side, close to the buckle. You are still quite safe in an accident, as the clip will 'spring' off and the belt will lock, but you can now adjust it so it doesn't ride on your neck. 🤠

In France the windows chairs are called canapé! The meridienne have a similar look but have one side more elevated than the other. A banquette have usually a "dossier" a back seat! The baroque style didn't have a dossier but were more shorter than the canapé or meridienne, more like a comfortable chair for 1 person.

Drews profit margin seems to be between roughly 60-75%. The profit margin seems to vary between purchases. It’s much higher than I initially guesstimated at 30%. I gather it needs to be that high because he not only needs to cover his shop and payroll costs, but also all the travel he does. Anybody have anything to add to this? Anybody in the antiques trade or business persons out there to comment? I find business teally interesting.
