Quite often, I come across online videos of dribbling workouts using a tennis ball.
I want to point out some aspects that coaches tend to overlook when incorporating a tennis ball into their drills:
1️⃣ Your focus will be on the hand with the tennis ball, so the other hand should work hard to dribble the ball firmly and strongly, enhancing your sense of touch and control.
2️⃣ Your stance should be correct and stable. Pay special attention to the positioning of your knees and back.
3️⃣ When catching the tennis ball, it is ESSENTIAL to do so with a downward motion, similar to how a cat moves its paw. I call this the "cat paw" technique. This motion greatly aids in protecting the ball from the defender's hands when you're on the attack, as well as in stripping the ball from the opponent when you're on defense.
Incorporate these simple tips into your workouts, and you'll notice improved ball control under defensive pressure and sharper defensive play.
