In hindsight, I don't know why I hated this so much. Honestly, I'd love to go back for just a few days. Eat 3 square meals a day, work out, learn a little, SING SONGS! Geez, that's the life honestly. Looking back, I have nothing but fond memories of Ft Benning.

Of course, I race my DS one PT morning, and smoked him 100m run, he caught up and said oh the race is not over 2more Miles for the entire platoon. What did I learn? 1. Dont challenge the DS. 2. *HOOAH - MP'S LEAD THE WAY!!! OF THE TROOPS, FOR THE TROOPS!* I was C/787 May 1997, at good ol' Fort McClellan [now closed because of toxic waste]. You GenZ troops make me *Proud!* - My GenX cohorts, are probably your 1SGs and SGMs now. I hope we lead you well into the coming war... NEVER give up your Integrity, it is the Keystone to every one of your other Army Values and Ethics. Compromise your Integrity, and the rest are meaningless ink on toilet paper. Never LIE. Ever. [Except that, "honey, does this outfit make me look fat?" trap, there is no right answer. It's a TRAP!] Keep your Integrity closely guarded - the rest will follow naturally. Always respect *everyone* as if they were a family member, and you are responding to their call for help. Doesn't matter who they are, or what position that person has in life. They are first and foremost a human being, and second a Citizen. [And in the US, we respect non-citizens at the same level, though with different legal rights and processes.] It doesn't matter if that person is destitute, homeless, filthy, or the person who does the job nobody else wants to do - you treat them the same. You respect them, the same. That includes suspects. No matter how hard you will want to be the full system of Justice, remember you are a link in that chain supporting our system, be the best damn link you can be - and let the other links do their job. Serve - it is why you joined - or should be. The People are supposed to TRUST us, not fear us. We are their saviors and Guardians, in their time of absolute crisis - not tyrannically blind enforcers, who operate solely on written legal codes and statutes. We are not Harbingers of War, but Bringers and Keepers of Peace. We are not the marching Legions of Emperors, but Liberators. Stay safe out there. *HOOAH!*

All of the platoons were named after killer big cats, I was in the Sabertooths which I think was 4th Platoon? But I can't remember at this moment - might have been 2d PLT. Regardless, I think it was Panthers, Sabertooths, Cougars (rawr!), and some other platoon that wasn't used because that bay was used by the female soldiers, and they dispersed to their respective platoons as needed. I don't think they even have bays for sleeping anymore. I think when they moved to Fort Leonardwood they started the 2+2 barracks thing? I dunno... it's been awhile. LOL
