I remember watching a show called “The Rig” where the Tool Push was named Donny. I can barely find anything online about it. My guess is that the industry didn’t like the way the show shone a light on every “Rig Pig” stereotype there is; and a LOT of safety stuff. For example, they showed the guys going from the site to some lounge (Fox Creek maybe?) and the boys getting absolutely polluted plastered- then going back to work hours later while they obviously still had a lot of alcohol on board. I don’t work in the industry but know people who do. It really bugs me when my own family members in Ontario have this belief: “Oh yeah, anyone with a grade 8 education can easily go and make $200k in the oil patch for basically doing nothing!!” It was funny and satisfying when I asked why they weren’t in Alberta picking up all that easy cash instead of working for $16.50 in Brampton?
@lovesloudcars
3 ай бұрын
I know Donny. Haven't talked to him for a bit, but worked with him before he was on TV & then again afterwards. He grew up a bit. Some of the stuff they did certainly didn't help the "rig pig" stereotype, that's for sure. Hard work some days with that job.
@jaymiller6009
3 ай бұрын
@lovesloudcars Hey, thanks for the reply! From what I recall of the show, Donny was “That Guy” who was fair but firm and worth every single penny they paid him because he knew every nut and bolt on the entire rig and would rarely have to call in help for a problem because he could always figure out a solution himself. Guys like that are few and far between; in any industry.

Dang that was slow putting kelly in rat hole just takes to long, the cathead chain was alot faster, putting pipe in mouse hole and spinning up kelly then right back to the stump and back to drilling!

Something is wrong with the elevators. If they are wedged around the top of the drill stem a Derrick hand would have a hard time opening them when tripping the pipe. I see they have no chain hand that is unusual

How does OSHA allow this when we got fined for not having OSHA approved tips on our air blow guns at work? Everything I'm seeing here is incredibly dangerous...

La seguridad no es solo el uso ISP también hay que considerar las herramientas con las que se trabaja...la elevadora de DP tiene desgaste por eso se queda pegada en el cople...puede reventar el seguro provocar un accidente y una pesca...

no hosting equipment for the drill pipe,, no hydraulic automatic tongs (operated by man, but more easily to operate) to makeup drill pipe....the work is so hard.

We turned our service rig into a drilling rig to drill out cement (casing leak fix). Two of the most boring days I've ever had on a service rig.
