Mitch and I are the same when it comes to drinking - I love the feeling of being drunk, but I hate drinking bc it upsets my stomach and the hangover so I don’t drink often! Also 17:01 has a very Canadian “sorry” from Mitch

Brilliant episode :-D I don't drink at all and people used to try to force me to drink because they couldn't understand why I didn't like it or thought I was saying something about the morals of drinking. I wasn't. I simply don't get to the drunk stage. I get a migraine and I'm sick for days the minute I have more than a sip or two.

Ngl I’ve watched asapscience since I was a teen and I was kinda taken aback when I learned the “dude who ran the channel” wasn’t straight. I strayed away for a bit being the edgy cynical kid that I was. But as I’ve grown, I’ve returned to your content and found that I enjoy your chemistry with your S/O and regardless of anything, the content is still very enjoyable and informative. Y’all appear happy and I hope it isn’t just that it appears so. Sorry if this seems backhanded in a way, but it’s indicative of the era I grew up in where “gay” was the common insult. Keep up the good shit y’all.

i can relate to the adults selling kids alcohol. In sweden the buying age is 20 and the alcohol is controlled by the government so in highschool we would have these "vodka dealers" who would sell you a bottle of vodka and it was either like 15 year olds with shitty imported german vodka or 20 somethings who invited themselves to your party

I grew up in Southern Newfoundland. Our family would go to St. Pierre and Miquelon for a week or two each summer. I remember it well being probably 11 or 12 and being given a glass of wine with my meal. I got buzzed and lay outside in a hammock looking up at the stars spinning lol I've had sips of wine before then, but never enough to get drunk or buzzed. I also remember getting an older kid to buy us beer...still don't like the taste of beer haha!

I'm one of the lucky "no real hangover" people. Like, the night I took my now-wife home from a big party, for a fling that has now lasted over 11 years, we were both drunk af. I don't remember chunks of the night (all blank bits are BEFORE the decision to hook up). I won the costume contest, which resulted in far too many shots being poured into my shot glass mini trophy for the remainder of the night. Woke up after 9 hours of sleep, feeling a bit tired, and with sore muscles bc I'd been dancing and moving way more than usual, but otherwise fine. Alas, WHILE drinking, I get majorly flushed and sweaty bc my temp regulation goes on vacation, and I feel very sick and headachy and bleh at most drunkenness levels between "very slightly tipsy" and "completely wasted". So unless I have enough motivation to power through that until I reach sloshed euphoria (usually only when I want to be able to dance at a show or club, since alcohol is the most effective means of letting me ignore my arthritis enough to have fun) OR manage to take in enough alcohol quickly enough that I mostly bypass the sick feeling, drinking more than a hard cider or two just isn't worth it. 🤷♀️

I am a person that very much fears losing control of myself, and have kind of vowed that I would avoid alcohol and drugs at all costs. To demonstrate how paranoid I am, I proffer the following example: You know how in health class they have the one unit on alcohol and drugs when they pull out their scare tactics to ensure that you never try any of it ever? Part of the experience is wearing these goggles that are supposed to simulate how you see things differently (and walk differently) when very drunk, and I avoided them at all costs. And--of course I knew this--putting on a pair of goggles is not the same as getting drunk and losing emotional control. This entire thing was to the amusement of the classmates that cared about my existence.
