Situated on the eastern flank of the Organ Mountains and located only 10 miles from New Mexico’s second largest city-Las Cruces, the Dripping Springs Natural Area is a great place to explore. The Organ Mountains is a steep, rugged mountain range with rocky spires that jut majestically above the Chihuahuan Desert floor. The highest peak is 9,006 feet in elevation and the mountain range extend for 20 miles. Managed by the Bureau of Land Management, the mountains are one of five ranges that are protected as public land in the 496,529 acres Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument.
