Is it worth to loose 2 lives for a race when it was not even a place to do so . Second time without a punishment , it can be you or your family so he must bear the punishment for what he did . After 24 years he can come to the society and live but those two are forever missing souls.

@@rom7633 I mean, if you have a teenage child (or ended up having a teenage child in the future) and they were in Cameron Herrin's position, wouldn't you be pleading for their freedom like his family were doing in court? Wouldn't you be saying, "This is a great kid, he made a costly mistake, he is remorseful, but please, don't send my son/daughter to prison for 24 years". I'm sure you would. As a matter of fact, I KNOW you would. So it's biased to think that being an outside viewer on this tragic situation omits any type if feelings or remorse for Cameron. I try to put myself in both partie's shoes. I was literally tearing up watching the 9 hour court session where the now widowed husband gave his testimony, because I imagined my 3 year old daughter not coming home and why someone would cut her life so short. I also was tearing up for Cameron's family because if you watched the entire court case, Cameron was very involved in Church and volunteered all throughout his community (he just liked going fast in cars and didn't think of the consequences). So to see his family mourning, especially his aunt, was tough because I imagined if my now 3yo daughter was 18yo, and she was being reckless with her friends and accidentally killed someone, I couldn't imagine having to visit her behind bars for 24 years. Not being able to watch her grow into an amazing woman, meet a husband, go to a great college, have an amazing career. Instead, she will have to experience life in a prison cell which will completely destroy her psyche when she gets out and she will never be the same. U.S. prisons are corrupt and just terrible compared to prisons in other countries. I would definitely be pleading for her freedom. I just think it's inhumane to think he deserves life in prison or to "rot in hell" from one mistake. At the end of the day, we are taking a young adult, and locking him in a cage like an animal where he will be raped, beaten, and have to fight for his life for the next 24 years. They are literally putting him in the same prison quarters as serial rapists, willful murderers, and child rapists. Do you think he deserves that? Now if there were separate prisons for situations like these, then my argument would be a lot different.

The only issue I have is that someone like Ethan Coach who killed 4 people while driving under the influence drugs got 2 years jail time and Cameron killed 2 people and got 24 years. The justice system is seriously flawed when 2 people who committed similar crimes in the same country can get such drastically different sentences.

It was his choice. That was a conscious and deliberate decision to do an illegal and highly dangerous street. He was recklessly racing with a speed of 102 mph through a residential area with a speed limit of 40. Just think for a second how fast that is. If course he lost control but it's his fault. He accepted the possibility of killing someone when he decided to do an illegal street. He knew exactly what he was doing is wrong and illegal and highly dangerous. He just didn't care about innocent bystanders. He decided that having fun is more important than people's lives. He knew the dangers and the consequences and the risks and now he has to face the consequences for his crimes. 24 years are more than fair to him for brutally killing two innocent. Driving a car takes responsibility. You can't race like that and then say you didn't mean it. You are responsible for your own actions.

So I don't know whether I'm right or wrong but what happened is gone and what is going to happen is the thing we hav to consider. Yeah he exceeded the speed limit but he didn't do it purposefully to go hit them right? It was an accident. I know they are innocent people who should have spent many more years happily, but it happened. That doesn't mean you have to take revenge. And also he is just 18 years old, after 24 years he will be 42. Don't you all think that that he deserve something better? He is also a human right? Imagine spending your teenage, and young lives in jail with no family and so on. It's terrible right? But 24 years to tooo much. You don't have to spoil his life just because he did a accident. I know the mother and the child is innocent and they never did anything wrong. But I'm here for both the sides. After all it was an accident, he didn't purposefully go and crash them right? Yeah he deserves a punishment but that doesn't mean you can just spoil his whole life.

I agree and this is exactly what we need. I wish more people got stiffer sentences like this little punk and his friends. Our country is going to shit because no one cares about anyone anymore and they feel like they can do whatever they want without any repercussions. Cameron and the harris family thought that too and they were all proven wrong. If we are not hard on crime we will slowly turn into a latin american country were they dont even have the death penalty for murder. People in those countries can go and kill thousands of people and the maximum they can get is 30 years. No life or nothing like that. And they wonder why their countries are violent hell holes? Because no one fears or respects the law. And i dont want my America to turn into that. So I'm glad the judge saw right through his lawyers young and dumb defense and hit him with 24 years. Maybe other would he racers will take note of it and do think twice.

You have managed with your hate that your wife and child are in the background. Why? because you raised your fingers to a child and called him a murderer. A child who sits trembling in front of you and wishes for death because he repents. A child who sits in prison with real criminals thanks to you. A child who you kill every day over and over again. Who is a monster here you or cameron? by your behavior you have left no room for the world to share in your loss with a good feeling. It’s a pity because they shouldn't be remembered like that. you should be ashamed of yourself because with your behavior you have damaged the memory of many people of your family. For those people who think Cameron deserves mercy because he's handsome, their soul will go down to 19 th level of hell (deeper than 18th level of hell), and their soul will be tortured there in the worst way ever, nonstopping and lasting forever. This torture will be on their soul beyond eternity, beyond all god and religions protection, beyond human kind imagination and perception, beyond time. This torture will induce the forever-lasting pain in the worst degree, and not reduced in any single moment.

Yeah. But he does deserve a punishment but not for this long. 24 years is just too much, I know her husband is going through a lot but imagine he will be 42 when he come out. With nothing literally nothing no family nothing. I'm not in his side but this is not fair

Yup 24 years in prison is tough. So if u still have a fucking brain just don't do something that might kill someone. Easy

He absolutely should have been punished this much or more It wasnt just an accident,He was speeding on a public area!He has also been warned 5 times

High sentences don't change anything for example death penalty , people still killed on purpose. Set him free earlier it was an accident, he is not a danger for society. A few years prison and social work + no more driving for his entire life would have been appropriate

he has to go to jail he just wants money Because if he did not want to shed the blood of his family He would never accept the money but he accepted the money he is the evil one
