Love this! My dad was an engine driver for NZ Railways from the age of 19 until he retired. I got to sit up in the front cab when he drove through the Manawatu Gorge once. He got me to hit the snooze button everytime it buzzed, apparently this was a safety measure to prevent the Drivers from falling asleep. Never forgot that trip as a kid.

Love NZ cab videos. Palmerston North to Ruatangata Road a bit east of Whangaehu, actually. At the end of the video you can see the Ruatangata Road overpass in the distance.

Love your videos, but would it be possible to include a description of the types of locomotive being driven?

I enjoy your videos. They give a different perspective up when up front. Has the sound been added to this video, as I noticed alot of crossings there is no warning toot and wheels squealing on straight sections.

Where is Ruatangata? And I do not mean the Ruatangata East or West near Whangarei. It's not in the Google Map and does not give a reference in the Search function.

Is there more of this to come? Seems to end in rather a strange place.

Was it my imagination or is sync seriously out? I was hearing crossing bells and flange squeal in all sorts of unexpected places!

Hi mate, not a sync problem, the mike is in the cab so to protect the drivers privacy I replace the sound... not easy to get remotely right.
