It's nice off-road. It seems like my default spotted was between gears before. I shift a lot less on the trails now but splitting gears

Hi Awesome seeing this. I have bought a CJ 3B day before our Lock Down here in South Africa. I seems I have the same Overdrive as yourself. If I may ask could you please explain from left to right each shifting leaver please as I don't truly understand each leaver.,, Am I correct to think (1) Left Leaver 1-3 & R obviously LOL, (2) Middle Left High-up & Low-Down, (3) Middle Right Up-Under Drive & Down-Direct Drive, (4) x4 wheel Lock Down. What purpose does the Under-Drive and Direct-Drive have. I have been searching all over and can't seem to find any info regarding the four leavers, plenty on 3 leavers etc.

You're right on the 1st 2, the third is for 2WD vs 4WD, and the last one is high and low gears - which only apply in 4WD.

What's the function of overdrive gear.
@ThatTanWillys

It reduces RPM at higher speed, gives additional mph, and come.in handy splitting gears when off road.

Been looking for an overdrive for one of my Jeep’s for forty years. Well one I can afford. Ido have a PTO drive.

I got lucky with this one - it came from the previous owner, and had been on this jeep back in the day - so it was just a matter of bolting it back on. He gave me a good deal on it, too!

Very complicated ! I can sit in my living room and shift like him 😄. But I solved it with a turbo kit and came up to 70 mph in 1977 .

By the gauges and glove box I think that’s an m38 or at least an m38 tub

From the research I've been able to do, it looks like this is a reproduction tub from the 70s or 80s, modeled of the M38. It lacks the auxiliary batter compartment on the cowl. I do like the glove box, (and the tool slots on the side), but I plan to replace the dash with a CJ style, but keep the glove box. I figure once it's frankenjeeped, we might as well keep the best parts :)

Whats your top speed now?
@ThatTanWillys
3 жыл бұрын
It's a little over 60. My speedometer is a little off now because I went with a little larger tire, but my GPS speedometer on my phone read 61 on a previous drive. Prior to this I was lucky to hit 50. The big benefit is how it reduces the revs at regular speeds.

@@ThatTanWillys You don't want to be going much over 60 in a flatfender unless your suspension is firm as rock.. Even then, the steering dances. My '46 has a Kenne Bell equipped 225 'Odd Fire' V6 with too much carburetor and a four speed plus a Warn OD. She'll do well over sixty, but becomes very unstable at higher speeds. Death wobble is close at hand. Having the windshield down helps a bit, and the bugs are tasty (goggles are a must).

@@-oiiio-3993 my suspension is super tight, but regardless- I'm not too comfortable past the mid 50s

@@ThatTanWillys They have the aerodynamics of a pile of bricks. Love my ol' Flatfenders dearly, and they do many things wonderfully. Being stable at speed is not one of them. That said, riding down the highway on a rude boy roller skate with the W/S down does give the sensation that one is going much faster than one is, especially while dancing with the spindly steering as the front fenders provide lift.

Saj se boste smejali:nekako tako kot star mounting bike:na levi strani balance sprednji menjalnik,desno zadnji,ko se navadiš,gre po maslu.
