A couple of weeks ago, I took out a five year Lotus Evora S for a quick spin and drive. Come take the journey with me as I explore the beautiful mountain roads of Colorado and learn if buying a used Lotus Evora S is worth it and what this car is all about. Check it out. I got some beautiful mountain footage for those of you who enjoy mountain roads.

Javier Torres, That's awesome! Small world Javier. I'm buying an Evora S GP tomorrow afternoon. We will be a 3 Lotus car family. You'll see it in Austin at cars and coffee or when we get our next Lotus Owners of Austin Event planned. Heidi, we own land in the Breckenridge area and often visit Colorado. We took our Alfa Romeo 4C up Pikes Peak and through the Rocky Mountains. We plan to do the same with the Lotus Evora. When and where is Cars and Coffee in the Denver area? Thanks.

Up until now, the Elise remains the only Lotus I have driven. You do see the odd Elise, but the Evora is very rare here. That said, the only Evora I know about here is only a five minutes walk from where I live. Interesting car. Wonder if the owner will take for a ride :)

My spare car is a 1995 Toyota Camry V6 LE with the 4 speed automatic. 258,000 miles and ice cold AC on its factory R12 refrigerant. The biggest repair in its life was a pair of valve cover gaskets. Super reliable. I think Lotus made a great choice for engine partners.

It should be a great, long lasting car. I would buy it (if we had money and space).

Yep, no rust with the aluminum and fiberglass construction, too. I’d want a manual personally. The Evora seems like it is a more modern version of the old NSX.

I have a 987 that I daily in Iowa and I've been trying to decide if I stick with porsche or got to lotus. The evora and elise has been on my radar. Good to see a video on the evora. Guess driving one of them will really show me if I should change. The engine is a main selling point of it for myself ( as well as it's looks.) Nice video.

Try the Evora 400, more power, much much better sound, smoother manual shift and far more space inside the car.

Which car would you prefer Lotus or BMW I8.

Oooh. Tough one. They are so different. I love the i8 because I don’t have to fill it up with gas often at all. The Lotus gets a bunch of attention, is super nice on canyon roads but I have not had the opportunity to drive our i8 in the mountains. Both have useless back seats which are great for storage. I would probably say the i8 is personally better for me. It is super different, new tech, but that Lotus is super sweet too. I would own both if I could.

Thanks Heidi 👍How does it compare to your great 996 turbo x50? ☺
@HeidiandFranny

It is different. My turbo is manual but the speed is fast and handling is fast. The color certainly gets more attention. I still adore my turbo but this car is certainly close behind. Heidi

Hey Heidi, how would you compare it to your 996tt?
@HeidiandFranny
5 жыл бұрын
Well, my turbo (2004) is manual and does appear to be faster because of the manual. But the Lotus handles the curves almost as well. Remember it is RWD. If it came down to cost and maintenance, I bet the Lotus would be the better buy right now. A 2014 Turbo is going to be way more money (but much faster). I am not sure zero to 60 in a 2014 turbo S (2.6 I believe), but considering at 2014 911 is as fast as my turbo, it would smoke it. In some sense, you get what you pay for. Also, turbo is all wheel drive. The Lotus is rear and with the rear engine, it can kick out in the corners. It is not as steady when hauling around curves. It would probably make a better drifting car.
