Nice video it’s really important to know how to drive at night as most driving lessons are done during the day, so driving at night could catch new drivers by surprise. It’s also worth mentioning that halogen headlights naturally dim over time so if you notice your headlights are dimmer than usual, go and replace them you will be surprised at the light difference when you replace them.

A video on what to expect going from a modern to an older car would be nice. Plenty of people learn in a car with the mod cons that omes with a newer vehicle, then go and buy an older (i.e. cheaper) car for their first and have to adjust to the changes (Worse [halogen] lights, no parking/reverse/proximity sensors, worse visiblility, lower power/torque, no anti-stall or push start, no ABS, e.c.t.....)

Good video. I passed my test over 2 years ago and I work nights. I am used to night time driving so always do that for us. You kinda got no choice but to drive in the dark if you work a 9-5 if you live more than a certain distance away from the equator in the wintertime. Where I live, it goes dark at 3 pm on the shortest days, although on the longest winter days it can go fully dark as late as 6 pm and most winter days are somewhere in between.

I also hate driving at night, but I fear more from the 2 legged animals who drive cars.. BTW rearfoglights vs brakelights. I think they can not be confused, because cars produced from 2003 in EU all are equipped with 3 brake lights 1 is centered and integrated into the trunk door. The rear foglight mostly is in the rear bumper or nearby in the rear lights

My advice is to practise in quiet areas. When it's busy, use your signal and position to help people understand what your intentions are. The 45 degree method is a lot easier to judge as you are much closer to the finishing position before you start.

My dad's Renault Espace (2007) has a green dashboard light for dipped beams aswell as sidelights. The sidelight logo also isn't the same as normal.. The colour is still green though. The green dipped light turns off when you switch to highbeams. When I had quite weak halogens on my car (and a bulb blew soon after, so perhaps on their way out anyway) I accidentally drove a few hours around town just on sidelights.. With streetlighting being nearly as bright as my dipped beams and no dashboard indication, I couldn't tell the difference.!

I have done that a few times myself with side lights. I don't agree that the dashboard lights come on with side lights, seems silly to me. They situation occur when I pull over, turn to sidelights to help people see I'm parked, then forget.

Such a helpful video again, thank you! 🙌🏻 I had a question that I’ve been struggling to find the answer too anywhere, if you come across a large pot hole during your test, what’s the best course of action? My partner hit one during his test, the tyre popped and he failed but there was no way he could get out of the way without putting himself in danger. Should you stop and wait until there’s space to go around, go over it carefully, or go round slightly over the line and do you need to indicate to go round a pothole? Thanks 🙈
@ConquerDriving

It is acceptable to hit small pot holes but holes large enough to possibly damage the car should be treated like any obstruction, such as a parked cars. Wait until it is safe to go round it.

There may be a leak somewhere letting water into the interior. This only happens when there is excess moisture in the car especially if it is there before you turn the engine on. Sometimes the heater can make it worse before it makes it better.
