I didn't know there was a distinction between the two. I'm not sure how large Fanders is; whether it's a small area or makes up a large proportion of Belgium. But I do know it's nearly my surname.

Hey Richard! Thanks a lot for this series of videos. I'm currently driving in France and Belgium from the UK and your videos have been an immense help. I just want to mention that you said rural area non-motorway speed limit is 90. This is partially true because it is lowered to 70 in the Flemish region. Sources for this can be found in the European commission website, Wikipedia, and other websites. Just wanted to point this out in case someone watching this video in the future doesn't do their research

The government are so embarrassed at turning the clock back 30 years (to GB plates) so we'll pretend it's new cos it's the "UK". PS Enjoyed the video - a good reminder of all the things I need to do that I thought we'd left behind. PPS Strictly speaking, they don't speak Dutch : it's Flemish.

Speed limits actually vary in Belgium on out of town non motorways depending on the region. 70Km/h in Flanders, 90Km/h in Wallonia. In Brussels of course there are no out of town roads and the default speed limit there is 30Km/h.

Just back from Belgium where I traveled Brussels Airport to Stavelot for the F1 GP(via Charleroi and a whole lot of Belgian countryside), and returned from Stavelot to Brussels airport directly Thank God. Listen up... Irish and GB drivers. If you don't know Belgium, bring or hire an ENGLISH speaking sat nav. If you hire a car with sat nav, DO NOT leave the airport until you have that sat nav reading out in English. Driving in Belgium as a newbie is OK with Sat Nav assistance. It's a total nightmare without it. Believe me, I know. Again friends, Use a Sat Nav that is in English.... Belgium is a lovely country with an awful road system and pretty much NO English signage to assist. Take heed of what I say... and thank me after :D
