Southland Mall used to be one of the best malls ever. Spend a lot of quality time in my teens there with friends getting into all kinds of fun and mischief. That big glass structure used to be an amazing food court. That mall was always a plan B back in the day if you were ever bored downriver because you could just go to there to loiter and have fun. That mall had great vibes in the late 90s/early 2000s

We All went there , this mall killed Lincoln park on fort street between Southfield and outer drive.. there were tons of stores on fort street that people shopped at and they built this mall in 1974 and by like 77’ Lincoln parks fort street was already going down to discount stores and empty buildings..

@@davidkruse4030 cause Southfield and dix isn’t Southfield and fort street ..I’m not talking about sears shopping center .,I’m talking about all the separate individual stores along fort street -from Southfield to outer drive… that went down.. sears was still doing good at them times in the late 70’s as the fort street corridor was slowly closing down…

Try west road in Trenton woodhaven , every light is timed to stop you as you progress to the next one, makes me suicidal., from fort street west to Allen road every light ugh I hate it getting stopped at every light I usually bypass west road and take king road when I’m going east or west from Allen to fort.

Thank you for the tour of my hometown. FYI, Ecorse Road does go all the way to Willow Run, and beyond. It was the main way to get to the B-24 plant during WWII and was known as M-17 at the time. (It was a State highway, before I-94.) It becomes Washtenaw Road in Ann Arbor. (PS: The roads in the worst condition are County roads: Van Born, Ecorse, etc.)

It seems that a lot of the subdivisions built in Michigan in the 20th century do look like they could be in Ontario, due to how most subdivision builders here in Canada copy popular American trends.

The subdivision at Beech-Daly and Goddard was originally built by Kaufman and Broad, now known as KB Homes. They got their start in Detroit, then moved out to LA, where they became huge. The Michigan State business school is named after Eli Broad as well as “The Broad” is LA. The same colonials, tri-levels and ranches can be found throughout SE Michigan, and beyond. The drive along Westlake/Michael/Cherokee shows homes similar to the one in Married With Children. (Chicago.)
