No offense to Fox 10 News but this is a disservice to the island. There is no context in this video to inform the viewer that this is a post-hurricane video and not a normal, every-day view of the island. If it weren't for comments we would have never known.

A lot of work was done in a short amount of time to get Dauphin Island back even better than before. The beach has more sand now than it did before the hurricane. Roads have been paved and beaches and businesses are flourishing!

Thanks to Mayor Collier, he did not "wait" to give beach house owners access to their houses/rentals. He immediately and personally arranged for streets to be cleared of sand. He also allowed contractors to contract $$$ moving the sand back to the Gulf side of Bienville at homeowners' directions on where they wanted it placed. Home owners are encouraged to install sand fences and beach compatible vines, shrubs, sea oats to hold their sands on their property. Note that the "berms" covered in vegetation installed by the Town are extremely storm resistant while no berms, or no sand fences, or no vegetation are an invitation for storms to send our beaches across Bienville and on to Mississippi.

Wow. We were at Ft. Morgan the day after Nate and things weren't bad there. Hoping the DI has the West End re-opened soon.
