In California, where earthquakes ALMOST never happen, we are required to build to strict codes that prevent damage during a quake. But in areas where tornadoes are a REGULAR occurrence, nobody is required to build twister-proof structures. Why is that?

Because in Ohio tornadoes aren’t a regular occurrence.

We get on average 19 tornados every year. We just had 2 touch down 2 days ago in Troy. It's crazy how many people are so uneducated on the weather in their own area.

It was an EF3. 136 to 165 mph. It hit my building. Fortunately I live in an 11 story apartment building made of reinforced concrete. I went in the hall and you could hear the wind coming up the elevator shaft. It was a surreal experience. I'm very blessed

They have now confirmed that 14 different tornadoes hit Dayton. I live in a north Dayton suburb and feel so fortunate that me and my family are all safe and well. It was the scariest thing I have ever lived thru. So much devastation all around us in every direction. Everyone I talk to knows several people who lost everything. I know several people who did as well. It is so sad.
