Iv been digging into the cajon and clapping patterns for flamenco which when really studied is quite alien to our western sensibilities, though it derives from Spain(west,,) it's roots are in gypsy music all the way to India, (what I was going to do my musicology thesis on and make a video trip out of it,travelling from India and following roots of gypsy music to Spain via eastern Europe/Romania AND the other fork, through northern Africa through Morocco, which is what gives authentic flamenco of the likes of paco de Lucia -must bucket list item to see live, even for drummers if you think you can count along) so I would challenge any drummer if you want a real challenge, listen to paco de Lucia "cositas Buena's" album and tell me you could sit in ..To JUST CLAP ALONG,NEVER MIND CAJON, NM DRUM KIT..& I'm no amateur, I mean sure the 2brumbas I could emulate, but did you know there is a Rumba via afro Cuban..and a flamenco rumba, and it's not just an inverse or that similar, but the bulerias, all in 12, along the lines of and inspiration for "i-want-to,-live-in-amer-i-ca".. or 1-2-3-1-2-31-2-1-2-1-2 w accents on 1's..sounds easy enough, think again, some of the clappers clap on 2's alone, somehow they know when to switch to accents on the (instead of 1,4,7,9,11) 8,9,11 or 3,4/6,7, it's just wild but there's a few tracks on there I'm not sure even Matt garstja could translate to a kit
