Hi Andrew, really enjoyed this reaction. Seems Yoyoka's 'sprinkles' worked again. Someone alse observed that John Bonham never got to play this live. Jason has done live versions but does not seem comfortable with it. A very good jazz drummer once remarked that a good drummer needs to be at home with latin rhythms. Yoyoka 'got' this one for sure. Thanks.

She's awesome but reminds me how great JHB was. He took that Purdie shuffle which most drummers where keenly aware of in the 70s and just really ramped it up and fit it perfectly for the song. I really miss that dude and sometimes wonder what he would be doing today if not for the tragedy? Would he gotten sober and healthy? Still playing? Miss him. No disrespect to covers but what an unbelievable original drum track. When I play this I have a samba whistle and use left foot cowbell to play this clave on the samba. In Good Times Bad Times, the most compelling part was Yoyoka's pure joy...joy in her new skill, joy in the music, joy in pleasing the videographer (presumably her father?). I was wondering when you would get around to viewing this one. Really impressive especially on the break. The original has a multilayered percussion track so it is hard to tell what Bonzo is playing in the "main track". There are steel drums over the top which create a lot of the same "tonality" that Yoyoka is getting from the cowbell. If you listen carefully though, there DOES seem to be something else in the samba riff added to the snare and hat. To me, at least, it sounds like a whiskey bottle (a la Procul Harum's Whiskey Train)

No, of course Bonham was not the technical virtuoso of Peart but he did have some cool beats which is why most people put him over Peart. Honestly I think it's more to do with the band someone likes most as to who they think the better drummer is, Zeppelin has tons more fans than Rush so Bonham is usually picked as number one more often, albums sold proves that, an unfair way to look at it but it is what it is
