The Mr. Krinkle , My name is Mud, and Wynona's Big Brown Beaver videos were played quite often. they actually had a few more i cant think of at the moment. And 10 years later VH1 was playing them too! Wynonas BBB still plays on rock stations in the US as part of their normal rotation

I saw Les Claypool do an interview in which he explained their songwriting process. In a nutshell, the just jam out the music and then Les just writes some words to go with the music. I believe the words were "we try not to think about it too hard".

I've actually seen Korn open for primus in the famous Dutch club "Paradiso" in '95. I'd already seen Primus once, so I knew what was coming, but Korn gave me a similar WTF surprise with their unique sound. Quite like their original drummer's style as well.

Tim Alexander is a genius, he is a slightly twisted version of Neil Peart. As a matter of fact, Primus are huge fans of Rush, they have been playing “A Farewell to Kings” as a tribute while on tour recently.

I recently started listening to Primus and they really blew me away, such a MASSIVE sound. I only remember one single from the time of release. You had it right, all three are virtuoso performers in their own right, super talented IMO and definitely pretty weird. Thanks for sharing.

Les Claypool's bass is So Heavy on this track.. Jerry was a Racecar Driver has always been one of my favorite tracks from Primus.. Mr.Claypool is a Bass Guitar Legend No Doubt..

"It's not the kind of band that's gonna be on MTV or anything" Well, not now since MTV doesn't play music anymore but they were definitely on MTV back in the day, in fact this song has a video. They were pretty big. Maybe not Nirvana big but well known. I went to one of their New Years concerts...it filled an arena and Tool was a supporting act.

Also, it's a quote from Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, spoken by Choptop, Leatherface's brother, a vietnam vet with a plate in his head, who picks his scalp with a heated up coathanger, down to the plate, and eats the pieces he picks off. Bill Mosely played Choptop, and Otis P Driftwood in House of a Thousand Corpses, and the Devil's Rejects, and was the vocalist in Cornbugs, with Buckethead on Guitar, who collabed with primus and Les Claypool.

Dunny you say at 4:51 "Sounds like Korn". I actually saw Korn as a support act for Primus mid nineties in Nijmegen, NL. Korn was pretty unknown and hadn't heard from that. Still, Primus was by far the better band.

Great video . However , we need a little education here . Herb is 1 of the 3 and by far my favourite (just my opinion) . Also , that was a piccolo snare , came out way before 311 , and that dark sound was out way before Kirk was even thought of . Primus sucks !

5:03 - If you are confused about that saying, it's from the American South. It basically means someone is going to do something because that's what they do. A dog is going to hunt because that's what dogs do. In this case a race car driver is going to race or do stupid risk things.

Great assessment of this band. I concur on all points. I saw them play a long, long time ago and I was very impressed, especially with the bass playing. I left the show wondering WTF was that all about? Decades later I'm still wondering ;-)

Great song. Need deeper analysis. This is some unique work mate! Serms some people miss the subtle high level work Tim does that makes him unique and that no other drummer does quite the same.. For example the bass drum notes here are spurt in beats like a car engine ,to mimic the theme of song.

2 things, it's funny the comment about primus being very south park since they're the ones that did the opening theme song for the show, second thing check out a band called Oysterhead if you haven't already. It's Les Claypool, the bassist from primus, Trey Anastasio( lead guitar and singer from Phish) and Stewart Copeland the drummer from The Police. They only did one album and I would check the tracks 'The Army's on Ecstasy" or 'Oz Is Ever Floating' the whole albums good, I just remember those two sticking up...for me anyways

Also Primus released an album called The Desaturated Seven not long ago, It's a concept album based on a childrens book that Les read to his daughter, it's actually progressive, but in a Primus way. One of his side projects, Les Claypool and His Flying Frog Brigade performed the entire Pink Floyd album Animals live, it's quite impressive.

This song actually had a video that played on MTV. In fact it was their most well-known song thanks to that video, before Wynonna's Big Brown Beaver came out. Also as a side note, before joining Primus their guitar player was in a death metal band.
