There is one talented Marsalis family in music - I really enjoy Bradford's brother Wynton Marsalis( trumpet) jazz mostly. But does classical etc. Check them out Lee. No singing though. I believe another brother play drums... now back to STING❤❤❤❤❤. Love his voice. Song compositions are amazing. He can just about fit into any genre. He likes to expand like that.

If you have not seen Rick Beato’s interview with Sting and Dominic Miller, stop what you’re doing and go to it. Sting is notoriously difficult in an interview situation but this becomes very relaxed and interesting. There’s a follow up interview with Dominic alone and Shape Of My Heart is the feature.

Sting was always interested in jazz and his departure from the Police was in order to pursue those dreams. His solo music is completely distinct from the music he wrote and produced with the Police, although both are equally excellent. His solo career is lengthy and the Police short-lived.

Back in the 80s I did not appreciate the Police, as I was down on 80s music being a 60s/70s music snob. I used to say, "Police turn it off" whenever I heard a tune. I was immature and wrong. 80's was the last great decade (IMHO) of young people's music. There was none before the 50s; all music before that was by and for adults. But the 90s wised me up and I came to love many 80s bands...U2, the Police, the Cure, Tears for Fears, Nirvana, Smithereens, etc. The Police were unique in their sound and deep in their meaning. May I suggest: Walking on the Moon, Spirits in the Material World, Invisible Sun and King of Pain...to name a few. Good stuff, Lee.

I probably let a girlfriend wear it and didn’t get it back. 🙂

I love that the subjsect of "Englishman in New Yortk" is in so much of of the video... It's the old guy white haired guy in the fedora... He IS an Englishman who lives in New York, and the lyrics are about him, Quentin Crisp. He was an openly gay guy in the 1930's when it was still illegal. He wrote a book called The Naked Civil Servant descibing his adventures and it was made into a television film in 1975 staring John Hurt... and that made John Hurts career.

TS'sT is an epic album! If you continue with it, you'll get to enjoy some stellar drumming from Vinnie - especially on "Seven Days", which was a feature piece for him on their tours. The videos made for it are interesting: some are definitely performed live (with slight differences from the album), while this was not - hence, the cutaway to country scenes, when the harpist wasn't present.

But either way with the Police or solo Sting your going to be diving into so great music I got to see the Police three times & Sting solo twice. Always great shows. I'm going to leave some suggestions for both. Not sure what you've heard from the Police so I'll stay away from the hits. Sting is also getting paid by Puff Daddy to for sampling Every Breath You Take. Solo Sting All This Time Fortress Around Your Heart If I Ever Lose My Faith In You I Hung My Head (Johnny Cash does a great version of this) Why Should I Cry For You Little Wing (Hendrix cover) A Day In The Life ( Beatles cover live) The Police Murder By Numbers Secret Journey Driven To Tears When The World Is Running Down, You Make The Best Of What's Still Around Contact Next To You So Lonely Hole In My Life Born In The 50's

P.S. Superb tune from Sting. The English Man in New York being Quentin Crisp.

Sting and his acoustic guitarist, Dominic Miller, created that riff and many have tried to play it, but it is apparently quite difficult, but beautiful and haunting. Sting is a pretty good acoustic player, but always uses a classical guitar. He explains that his fingers are fat, that's why he played bass, and the classical guitar is strung with a wide neck and the strings spaced more generously.

Your talking is better than Sting's singing?? Come up with your own stuff without using superior musicians' work as a crutch to prop up and legitimize your ordinary yapping. Annoys me...
