4:20 As far as I know, Weinberg has publicly stated that the Knot do NOT play with any sort of click/backing track. The stick hits in this song are more of a theatric and yes, a count in for the crowd too! Great analysis mate!

Fun fact: that blast beat was actually a bomb blast for example: snare and ride cymbal are in unison as 8th notes, bass drum will be 16th notes

I was at that show when they debuted this song live. It was not only my first Slipknot concert ever but it was my favorite concert as of right now

I have yet to see a Jay video that is not amazing. His playing has given Slipknot life. I like Joey as a drummer as well, Jay has so much technique.

Coming from the family he came from it's almost to be expected!

@@CameronFleury Jay didn't actually know about his dad being a drummer. Max actually let Jay find his own interest in music. From what I understand Max never taught him anything, basically Jay was self taught. Jay grew up loving Slipknot and enjoyed Joey's drumming and spark Jay's love for drums. Jay actually played a couple shows for Bruce Springsteen, Bruce invited him. There is a cool video on Jay here on KZitem, I believe it's Zildjian. It's been a minute since I watched it. 🤘😎 Still a cool story.

Although he’s not using push down ankle motion I do believe he’s utilizing his calf muscle a lot so it’s not as full leg motion as you would think. Just my opinion

But also… he COULD just be using full leg idk I do see a lot of Leg movement. Probably a blend of both

He could very well be! Suppose we could only speculate exactly what's going on.

@@CameronFleury I remember watching the studio version of unsainted and they had really fast double bass where he was actually using full leg. I think he’s learning to use them more but like you said we can only guess lol

I would personally like to see you react to Tommy Portimo doing Don't Say A Word, by his band Sonata Arctica

Jay is an incredible drummer.. his way of playing is a lot similar to Joey Jordison's. Unfortunately newer Slipknot songs are not as good as past ones in my opinion. They lost the darkness and psychopathy typical of the early days.

Over time of course bands have to adapt and change their sound (for better or worse). I do really like all of their material.
