The Atlantic is relentless due to the overheated ocean sadly, sun is strong now thankfully, just high pressure missing, cheers Brian.

Agree with what you say about the radiant heat from any sunnier weather we get in this weather set up Brian. The ground can heat very quickly so as the ground becomes dryer a NE component to the wind direction can warm significantly in sheltered southern and western parts of the uk. Today the wind is NW here in Totton but due to the long land track we’ve had a day time high of 15c above the norm for the time of year. A wind veering E-NE will bring a longer land track from Europe and increase the day time heating in sheltered parts of the South & West more! What will bring cold into this set up more is if a low forms close uk around southern North Sea but hopefully that won’t happen. A better scenario would be lower pressure in biscay forcing the wind direction to veer further to the east 😁☀

Indeed, some of the highest temperatures may well be in the west of the UK.

I think you’re missing a little detail there myself. Highest temperatures are more likely in the south & west. If you look at Xc weather today the map shows this. A NNE wind supports this …. A strong E wind will send the higher temps to the west of the UK😀

It's now becoming farcical . We just cant get a robust high pressure to defend us from Atlantic lows and the jet stream . This has now gone on for 10 months !!!! WTH is happening !!
@Gary0557

It's called global warning mate. There's more moisture in the atmosphere generally.

@@Gary0557 I understand that . My beef is we're not being told what that actually means by anyone . They still stick to the basic stat of warmer temps and stay quiet about what it actually means for the Uk . the end of any decent blocking highs leaving the Uk totally vulnerable to never ending atlantic storm fronts with never ending and a hyper charged jet stream hitting us in the face forever !! has huge implications for agriculture and wildlife !!

Northern blocking seems more prevalent and the absence of the Azores high. I think the futher we go into late spring the weather will start to improve significantly. But it’s a case of adapting and I do share your concerns about how we manage climate change it’s all empty words and I’m alright jack sod you.@@justinlinnane8043

I am still "waiting" for an explanation why the Northern Atlantic was about 4C above normal last June starting around the Caribbean and then spreading NE. Even allowing for El Nino. We no longer seem to get proper High Pressure systems lasting up to a week over Scandinavia particularly in winter providing for 4-8 days of cool/cold stable weather; when they do form the Lows tend to slide SE across the country into Europe.

@@justinlinnane8043 Warmer temperatures overall, mean more rainfall throughout the year in the UK.. Beyond that, not even meteorologists can predict the weather with any degree of certainty beyond 3-5 days. They can only predict through model trends and predictions based on weather readings high up in the atmosphere.
