Ah drywall dust sneezes. I have def started wearing a half face respirator when I sand. With or without vacuum on my sander

The planex is a definite help during sanding. But there’s always a bit of hand work to be done!

Finally! Hahaha! I too am not a fast finisher, but I can definitely make it look good. And I’ve noticed a lot of the guys that are faster, don’t always do a great job. There are very few really good finishers around me.

Impressive. Really clean looking. How long did it take to do the finishing? We don’t see much of that here in the north east except in commercial work. We do full skim coat. Usually a diamond finish. It’s not something we can do , it needs to be subbed out to guys that do it. It’s an art form. I might start compounding smaller jobs if I can get them to look like that.

We had probably 6 days from firing up the bazooka to our final sand. Some of that was due to the humidity not drying some of the mud out all the way.

The only thing I do different is use my HEPA vac to suck up were I cut my holes, because I hate it in my face and a flat trowel with round edges because more speed , leverage and less fatigue, only knifes I use are small ones for corners and then I do a light skip on everything, smooth can suck. U guys do good work, my brother is a drywall, plaster, plaster veneer finisher he uses plaster applicators, but I never seen the need, it does look easier on the body,

The heap vacs make a huge difference in the drywall world. After we hang our sheets and cut all the outlets/cans/etc I like to go back and vacuum out all the dust and debris. I feel like it helps keep crumbly stuff out of the wet mud. I think guys around here are either pan/knife guys or hawk/trowel guys. I learned on knives so that’s what I prefer.

List of tools for the next one. 7" maxx box for outside corner bead bed coat. ( best rookie tool I own). And a bead hopper for corner bead.
@TheRealBeardedBuilder

I’ve seen those bead hoppers. I have an outside corner head for the mud runner that puts the mud on then we bed the outside corner with an outside corner roller. But we still finish by hand which takes a bit.

@@TheRealBeardedBuilder the hopper is where it’s at. The 7” box on corners is one that will make you want to smack yourself for not ever having.

Love the video, besides the planex what sanders do you use?
@TheRealBeardedBuilder

I use the DTS400 from festool in the inside corners, the planex for the flats, and sanding sponges for anything that just needs a little touch up.
