I'm glad to see even after years of experience Im not the only one who has 4 attempts at finding which way to old my speed square to get the 45 degree I want.

I fully applaud your work and this a great option where space is an issue but archways typically get banged around and I think they should be properly trimmed out.

Totally fair. Vinyl does hold up incredibly well in terms of durability/dent resistance (especially compared to other corner bead options), but we see where you’re coming from. Thanks for the input. 👍

If you have a lot of vinyl anything to cut. Turn the blade backwards and it will slice through like butter. No damage to either!

Where do you find all these awesome products? Would this work in a bathroom...for example the end wall of a tub/shower? Thank you for sharing and your tips and detailed explanations. BTW...Love the "in a jamb" joke...ha ha

Thanks! They’re made of vinyl, so they’ll outlast your drywall, that’s for sure. Not sure about shower applications, you’d have to reach out to Trim-Tex on that. Honestly, the folks at www.csrbuilding.com are our greatest resource, check them out!

I bought these fast caps and ready to install. Do you mud the vinyl inside or just the outside strips? Someone else asked but there was no response. TY

Hey! You can apply a bead of caulking inside the bead to avoid hollow sounds, puckering, etc. but you only need to mud the outer perimeter .

Quarter inch drywall, paper corner beads. Problem solved. It seems like a decent product that may have it's time and place, but I'd just use 1/4 inch drywall if there is a concern over the opening width.

Great videos as always! Few questions: do you glue the jam and the back of the bead, or just the jam? And did you silicone the inside corner joints before painting?

They recommend spraying adhesive on both the wall and the vinyl, so we always try to put at least a little bit on both (not always on camera though 🤷♂️). For the corners we run a bead of high quality caulking (or even an acrylic urethane sealant) so that it’s paintable 👍

Does any mud go over the flat middle section? Or is the vinyl just ready to prime and paint?

I think if you put a thin coat of 20 on the jamb before putting the vinyl on it would be fully backed and most likely as strong and stiff as any regular finish opening

@@RefreshHomeImprovements how about the price of 1/4 drywall and some paper beads. Just as fast and readily available and cheaper. Also will take paint better than slick shiny vinyl
