She is just next level,, the timber in her voice, this profound malleable density. I don't really get Taylor Swift. but as a 57-year-old man whose favorite bands are Zep, The Stones, U2 - she def has my ear. This generation's Madonna- thank you Dua for turning every inch of mother earth into my dance floor.

*Like Bob Dylan* Joseph Wolfson (11/27/2018) Bob's a great poet Trust me, he's fit and lit The weird rhymes he's with Make system go boom tick He has a weird flow Who knows where he goes? He's one from to borrow He's reason come they follow Poetry becomes simpler Rhymes being similar Singing for the listener Writing form's like visitor's He won't be one of conventional tools He's done trailing on every side of rules Showing identity that's true to him By doing what he wants to do to them Chorus: Like Bob Dylan I can be rhyming Can be minding Like Bob Dylan I can be writing Can be trying Like Bob Dylan Making a lack of sense A rare amount of cents A strange type of performance There's a letter to be sent Confusion in this union Division without supervision Opposing attraction without satisfaction Confession stopping depression Talks of change without marks in range More age doesn't make a sage Scars on face without a trace Problems made won't make troubles fade Not following through the debt that's due Life ain't smooth, but it needs more truth Earth needs a reboot cause early worst roots Where's the point in being GOAT without room to float? (Chorus) Be aware of what's out there Wipe away tears and forget fears So many finders with so many reminders Love of rhyme with less of time Be awake before all will break Actions too late to stop the date that's fate A crazed case where nobody listens at base End containing a theme worth maintaining Prior departing designed situation, start thinking like Bob Dylan

How can someone with no talent outshine so many amazing musicians out there?
@thebatman7730
2 жыл бұрын
It’s pretty sad, I mean I watch a lot of music KZitemrs, and recently I’ve watched a Rick Beato video where he talked about how Gen Z no longer cares about music that much. They might listen to music, but they never really think about the process of how the music is made, and I’m saying this as a Gen Z member. If a basic chord progression that has been reused thousands of times is catchy, then everyone just thinks that the artist is super talented when they probably don’t even know what chords are. Now I’m not saying she has no talent because it’s pretty hard to write lyrics and Melodie’s it’s definitely not as impressive, as all these other people that not only create Melodie’s and write lyrics, but they also play their music. There are unfortunately a lot of artists out there who create songs without reusing known chord progressions that mischievous that don’t get enough credit for the amount of hard work that they put into writing music. A lot of artists now days get songs written and played for them, and all they have to do is sing. I’m pretty proud of people like Ed Sheeran, Charlie Puth, and many more current musicians who managed to become very popular and they are actually talented.

@@thebatman7730 I agree, I could name very talented artists from all decades and all really worked with composition, in the recording room perfecting the song and really pouring talent to their craft. Now as you say, its producers handing down a manual on what they should sing, how te dress, how to dance, move, talk, they are a product for making cash. its the price to pay for fame I guess. Underrated artist for example Sofi Tuker or Kimbra to name a couple of young female talents (there are many more of course, they stay in niche audiences because they don't go mainstream. They stay true to their craft. There will always be great music, the music industry however is there for money, not quality music.

Looking at the production credits for the album would suggest she assisted with the lyrics and not the songwriting, can this be clarified?

fredthewaterboy production isn’t songwriting so. So what do you mean exactly?
@fredthewaterboy

@@magnoliyah1001 to clarify the credits for the album indicate the songs were written and produced by a number of producers whereas dua lipa is shown to have assisted with the lyrics.
@magnoliyah1001

Not at all! If you look at the credits in most songs she was the main writer. The names on the credits appear in order of the amount that’s been written. For example these are the writing credits for hotter than hell: “Written By Dua Lipa, Tommy Baxter, Adam Midgely & Gerard O'Connell” genius.com/Dua-lipa-hotter-than-hell-lyrics
@fredthewaterboy
5 жыл бұрын
@@magnoliyah1001 This would suggest she is the primary writer of the lyrics, not the music. To confirm look at the royalties per track on her album, these are separated per album credit and give a difinitive indication of what elements she contributed to. Additionally it is worth noting she doesn't play any instruments and at no time has she discussed any production applications she uses.
@magnoliyah1001
5 жыл бұрын
fredthewaterboy I still don’t think you get the difference between writing and production! The writing of the melody she sings belongs to the writing credits, the rest is the production, where I agree, she didn’t do anything... i don’t know what your profession is, but I filled out split sheets very often and I sat in sessions with publishers to figure out the credits in the end!
