On Monday of the last week in April, I took a walk around the Dubuque Arboretum & Botanical Gardens to see what was in bloom and also to see what was new or interesting.
The daffodils along the Legacy Tree Trail are still holding on after the several freezes we had in the past weeks. There are numerous trees budding and blossoming now including ornamental pear, flowering plum, and others. Beautiful pink rhododendrons, possibly rhododendron aglo, are in bloom. They can be spotted in several locations throughout the gardens, most notably in the Rhododendron Garden and near the Herb Garden.
Finally, I notice two items of interest in the Japanese Garden: a new pagoda and the doors on the garden gate have been restored.
