@AlbesADV

Hi Lukas, sorry the bolt snapped, I know how much of a pain that is, even if the axle pinch bolt torque is less than 15 ft/lbs , the bolt shouldn’t snap off at 12 ft/lbs, 12ft/lbs is about hand tight. I would take it back and have it replaced, it might be a defective bolt.

Albe, my firks are pitted and leaking on my scrambler icon of 3500 miles. Am planning on changing the chromed inner tubes but apparently there is a special tool to detach them from the bottom ends. Have you any advice on that please?
@AlbesADV

Hi Nemer, If they are like other fork tubes, you need a tool to hold the chromed inner tube without damaging it while you unscrew the bottom part and possibly a special screwdriver to unscrew the locking screw, on other forks is usually an Allen key

Nice video. Nice accent, also :-). So no worries about your special friends you mentioned. However, some notes to the instructions, if you won't mind me doing so. The spacer is actually the other retainer ring and both should be replaced, if worned. Also it might be better to control the oil level by measuring the air volume, since one actually never knows, how much old oil is still in there and end up with an incorrect level. And, as somebody else already mentioned, loosen the upper clamp first, before loosen the big fork screw. I' m looking forward for you working on the complete fork for another of your fine videos. I haven't worked on mine yet and am very curious on how the left part is constructed. Thanks, dude, for this one.

In my case the bike had so little miles that the seal on the left side was fairly new and the leak on the right was very strange, in the end the right seal was not wore out, but looked like a little stone cut a grove into it, if the bike had more miles I would have done both.

Hi Layton, the LH one does not have a spring nor the pre-load tube. The procedure is the same as the RH tube but simpler since you don’t have to deal with the spring and the pre-load tube, the quantity of fluid is only 298cc rather than 427cc.

@@quinnlamb559 hi, sure, two things come to mind. one use a seal cleaner- a thin piece of plastic that you can stick under the seal and slide around. This can clear any dust build up or dirt that can cause a leak. If you fell the seal really is bad, then you will need a special tool to take apart the left fork. a long socket type tool with a special toothed end to it the fits down inside the fork to loosen the retaining piece. Ducati sells this tool, or you an make one.

The seal wasn't wore out, it was damaged, something got in there and chipped off a piece of the seal, at 2800 miles there shouldn't be much wear on them, but as soon as I have some spare time I'll do the other seal as well.
