Why would the SL make more power up top Ducati focused on dropping weight on the SL, while i agree they should of CNC machined the heads or throw in some higher lift cams. What they did do was use lighter weight connecting rods and other tricks to drop the engines weight by 4 pounds. And i wouldn’t be surprised if they picked the best running V4R engines off the line and used them as a base for the SL engine It’s like comparing the boss 302 to the boss 302R and S from a few years back, same engine but different calibration because one was a full race car and the other you can run on the street

As awesome as it is to see these bikes on the dyno and see the HP these beasts are making. I guess in my opinion, the race track is where these things come alive and where they actually are meant to be used. There are much faster bikes out there on the dyno but not many could keep up with a superleggera and an adequate rider on the track. Still, great informative video to see what's being put down on the rear wheel.

While the heat would kill the bikes HP potential on that day, the numbers you see once corrected will be 'the' numbers based on the corrected ideal 'conditions'. These numbers are very good for both bikes, as SAE as you know gives lower numbers vs DIN,EEC,STD etc Normally transmission losses equate to around 10-12% so the real wheel figures are pretty much bang on. Of course, these bike will make more power when moving, and having air forced at them. Beautiful bikes. Enjoy.

Understood regarding SAE, thanks. I’ll be making another run and video when it’s cooler in the next few weeks, so I suppose it will be interesting to see if there’s and difference. However the SL will be more broken in by then so it won’t be true 100% apples to apples. Still interesting thought! Thanks!

@@TouchUpDirect the next time you Dyno, if the results are also corrected to SAE and all other things being equal (other than temp/atmos conditions etc, they should make pretty much the same power as they just did. If you did uncorrected on the 100 degree day, then uncorrected on a cool day. You'd then probably see a 10 or so hp difference at wheels. I prefer to actually look at in-gear thrust curves. As they are much more descriptive/useful to understand the performance of your bike. I look forward to the next video. BTW, why you being so damn greedy, a V4R and a Superleggere, jeeez? Lol

What do you think about previous 1299 or 1199 superleggera ? Are they even lighter ? Then then new ones V4 SL ? What is your thoughts? 1199 SL is more affordable already if comparing with V4 R
@TouchUpDirect

Yeah the 1299SL is around 15lbs lighter than the V4SL: kzitem.info/news/bejne/0qOttKaPcIZmfY4 I'm not sure about the 1199SL, I don't have access to one. But I assume it's heavier than the 1299SL, for obvious reasons. Don't forget the V4R is going to have the latest electronics, an 1199SL is a bit dated. The 1299SL is pretty good in that area though.

What is a dyno run? Company claims 234 hp then why is it 199 showing? Explain please.
@TouchUpDirect
3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm...might be easier if you research a little on google since a thorough explanation can be quite lengthy. Bottom line, a dyno measures horsepower to the wheel and these numbers you see line up well with Ducati’s rated numbers. The V4SL came in at 206 hp, not 199 FYI.
@gigwrx1098
2 жыл бұрын
Horsepower figures from all manufacturers (cars & bikes) are almost always measured at the crank. Rear wheel horsepower or RWHP will always be less because of the loss through drive train. Usually the loss is about 10% or so.

A 12% driveline loss is not bad at all so I disagree. And it must be worth it because they’re sold out. Market determines worth, not KZitem.
