I'm replacing the belts on my MTS950 and was wondering if the the Exactfit belts need to be replaced at 30k km or 5 years like the OEM belts or need to be replace sooner, thanks.

Hi Bored, thank you for reaching out. If you confirm the belts tension along that time period, we won't argue against the interval. All belts (OEM, ours, everyone's) have a continuously wound glass cord in them. These cord shift in the jacket slightly and will "break in" over time. This causes a lower tension. Additionally, increased moisture can cause the cords to swell, also lowering tension. There can be failures caused by low tension when trying to go the extended period without checking tension in the interim. It would be great if riders could go that full time without needing any maintenance, but the unique application on Ducati motorcycles isn't compatible with timing belt technology and long intervals without checking. Thanks, Krista

Great product keep up the great work! My mechanic at Brooklyn Moto recommended your belts. Feels good to save some money , not everyone that rides a Ducati is rich.

i have watched several of your excellent how to vids, including the ones about how to change and tension belts and the old one using the 5 and 6mm allen key method for tensioning belts which i just used with success when fitting your exact fit belts to my multistrada 1000ds, but i am interested in what you said in this vid about the differences between the 696 and 900 belts and that your engineer said they should not be interchanged as they have different tooth profile, not just different width, if that is true then would those engines not also have different pullies with different prifiles, it should be easy enough to check offering one pully up against the other if they really are different. anyway, yours work just fine on my 1000ds, cheers

Hi Odysseus, the differences are very subtle where the tooth transitions to the flat of the belt. One is sharper and the other radiused - yes, the sprockets are different.
