This was extremely helpful. I think this will make a big difference now that I understand the reed warm up process. Thank You!

Thank You very much. Exactly how does the reed react to 1. Cold weather (I live in Sweden) 2. Warm weather And humid- versus dry climate?

Thank you for your videos. I am guessing that when I breathe into a reed at what I would consider a consistent flow, a consistent sound should be produced? Yeah, not the case here. I have thin reed (this too, is a guess. but an educated one) because it is really thin. Or at least thinner than the others. And, when I blow it does not always produce a tone. Inconsistent. Sometimes when I am blowing through the reed, the sound will produce then stop. The thicker reeds (the ends are thicker, not super thick, but thicker) have the same issue. I live in a hyper humid climate so I think I suffer from the same thing you do. Also, how do we get rid of that breathy overtone? Hmm...I tried recording it (just for fun) and I get this horrendous breathy over sound along with the sound. Again, thank you for your videos!

Yeah humidity will wreak havoc on the reeds and their consistency. Best thing is to stay in a room and try and regulate the temperature, be it with the A/C set low, or some kind of de-humidifier. The breathy overtone generally will become less obvious when your technique improves and you're able to have a strong supportive embouchure, and good breathe control. Takes time and patience. Also all of this is depending on you having decent quality reeds, and not low quality or cheap ones. you're most welcome :)

I have a problem with the (leather) strips on the side of the reed which seem to be coming unstuck - by the way I have quite a few reeds. Any suggestions?

Hi! Should I sand a hard one?

not sure if sanding is the right thing to do to a reed. I know they use a razor or stanley knife to shave it down. However the issue is that you wouldn't be able to evenly shave it down due to the leather strips on the sides. Personally I used heavy reeds as practice reeds in the same way people use heavy weights in the gym.. so when you lift a lighter weight it seems lighter relative to the heavy lifting you did.
