Nah. Howard is an especially jealous and weird dude. He just gives them so much attention they are sort of forced to come on to get the publicity and money. No one in their right mind would have to go through the circus 🎪 of ridicule of the Stern Show just for shit and gigs. Ugh.

Duffs transformation from 1993 to 1996 is genuinely incredible. His interviews from 1993 looked like he was on his last legs.

Duff was in his early 30’s here. Prime of his life. He’s now close to 60. It freaks me out how long ago this was. He made an astonishing transformation though.

I know it’s Howard’s thing to make fun of addiction but Duff is a real deal miracle story. I read his book when I was getting sober. It’s a great story. God bless ‘em, him and Slash, Steven Adler too.

I read duffs autobiography and it was pretty insane . I’m not the biggest G n R fan but his story was wild. He really was on the path to an early grave with his alcoholism. It’s good to see him so lucid and healthy here

As much fun as they were having at listening to that old tape of duff it must have been scary for him because he was listening to himself basically slowly dying. One of the hardest parts of sobriety is when you have people get nostalgic and tell stories of crazy drinking times and it scares you because you can't get your head around why you were in that place and why you were self destructing.

Duff and Izzy were always my favorites in gnr. They always struck me as the cool chill guys that cared about the music but got caught in the gnr/rock and roll madness. Axl was nuts, slash was they typical crazy lead guitarist and Adler was on a death path from the start.

Shut up howard..let them speak...duffed talked about having a ton of anxiety and panic throughout his life I can relate,,you feel trapped with no escape.. clearly he's struggling in this interview...the alcohol used to masked it. being without that safety net is extremely tough.I wish howard backed off a bit. I do understand if you've never had it you can't relate.. glad to see 30 yrs later he's well and works hard at staying healthy.

It's sad, looking at duff, he's beaming, he's healthy looking, he's looking good, you can see that he's got his mind, just overall in great shape, but to know that the toughest and lowest parts of his life are still to come is just heart breaking. I've been there.

When Duff was yawning in that old phone conversation, drunk and strung out on alcohol, it took me back to those dark days when I would wake from the most insane lucid nightmares, yawning and shaking violently, reaching for the bottle in desperation. Don't miss it at all! Glad he made it through that hell.

They were given a million dollars up front just to see where a Duran Duran bassist/songwriter with a bassist turned guitarist from G.N.R. and add a fired drummer Matt Sorum from the Illusion cd's and then put a punk guitarist/vocalist from the Sex Pistols all in the mix and see where it goes? Read that in Duff's book! Neurotic is definitely a great cd and we wanted a second butttttttt.....never got it!

I disagree, back then the radio format favored quick choppy bits, Howard didn’t have the freedom he had on Sirius to sit down and listen to guests talk for over an hour. He had a 20 minute radio segment to try and cover as much as possible. It’s not fair to compare it because its two different mediums even though its still radio. And if you compare this to other radio interviews from the time period, this blows any of them out of the water. Terrible is a strong word.

I’m not comparing. You are, ma’am. This interview is a difficult listen.The interviewer is to ask the question, shut up, and let the guest speak. Moving the conversation along in a polite manner is fine, but constantly talking-over or interrupting the guest is bad form.
