I have one exactly like that; a 12 inch blade cw red plastic handle and retaining pin … compared to my first parang of 30 years ago (golok Perak), I found the candong design is limited in use but it’s plus point is that you can use it in limited space using just the tip to chop heavier vines … something a golok cannot do as the heavy cutting from the golok is concentrated in the middle … I’ve used my 12 inch golok for everything from skinning and dressing cattles, chopping thick bamboo and tree branches, splitting coconut shells using its spine and fine works like stripping banana leaves and coconut leaves using the blade part closes to the handle … nowadays I carry the candong as it is more robust than the golok for rough work in the field …

I have a 12 inch chandung machete with a plastic handle made by Behrang TT buy rm120, it is sharp. I changed the plastic headle to a wooden headle and made a wooden cover. The upper part of the machete I cut from the base of the upper to the tip a little to remove the size that is too wide and large.

Increased weight/mass at the tip of the blade increases the impacting force?

That's a nice parang you have there. It's kinda similar to binacoco/binakoko/binakuko bolos from Rizal Province in the Philippines. Stay safe always! Haha

Yes, locations of Philippines and Borneo are very close to each other, thus we may share similar designs. The bolo knives from Phillipines and the Duku from Borneo have similarity

@@abgacid Thanks for the reply. I am really fascinated with traditional Filipino blades and Southeast Asian blades as well. That's why I'm getting hooked with Filipino KZitem blade enthusiasts like Pinoy Blade Hunter, AJ Blade Reviews, Itak Rizal, Bicol Own Blades, Filipino Traditional Blades, etc. Hahaha. Right now I'm hooked with Batangas balisong, especially those made by Diosdado Ona, Louie Almazan, Ka Boy Almazan Balisong, etc. Haha. Stay safe always and more power to your channel.
